Ahh, if only he were his own worst critic.. ‘Egomaniac’ Billy Corgan Says He’s Sick of Radiohead’s ‘Pomposity’
To coincide with the release of Oceania — the upcoming studio album from the latest iteration of the Smashing Pumpkins (now featuring the girl from the cover of Siamese Dream!) — frontman Billy Corgan decided to drum up some publicity by picking a fight with Radiohead. (Yawn. Of course..)
Speaking with Antiquiet, the aging rocker, who readily admits to having a "need for attention, and ego gratification," said he'll happily "piss" on Radiohead "because of all this pomposity."
He went on to blast "this value system that says [Radiohead guitarist] Jonny Greenwood is more valuable than Ritchie Blackmore," before conceding that Greenwood has made contributions to music.
"I'm not attacking that," he explained. "I'm attacking the pomposity that says this is more valuable than that. I'm sick of that. I'm so fucking sick of it, and nobody seems to tire of it." (Nobody, including you? Or, especially you?)
Poor Uncle Fester: Still talking like he's 24 and on a five day coke binge.. We know, we know; with you, it's always been about the "art." Know what I'm sick of? An Attention whore musician who had a couple of great albums early in his career(Gish - Siamese Dream), nothing good past '99(Melon Collie..), yet he continues to put out as much shit music as much as shit talk. Until someone makes another Addams Family movie, take your seat in the back, and for the love of God, keep quiet! You. Are. Not. Impressing. Anyone.
