Jay Bennett, a seven-year member of mega-awesome band Wilco, passed away Sunday. Bennett's career floundered after leaving the band, and he never repeated his earlier success as a solo act. Bennett had been in declining health for a couple years, and the website Gawker wonders if a contributing factor to his death was his lack of health insurance. Within eight years, Bennett went from his creative apex (Wilco's 2001 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot), to not being able to afford health insurance.
Jay Bennett, gone too soon at age 45..
