NEW 4-Mile Long Oil Slick Near BP’s Gulf Oil Well

BP’s Macondo Well May Leak for Years.  Washington's Blog.  Excerpts:

From CNN:

An oil sheen about four miles long has appeared in the Gulf of Mexico near the site of the worst oil spill in U.S. history, a Coast Guard spokesman said Thursday.

It was not immediately clear where the oil is coming from, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Tippets. [Although previous oil has been matched as a "dead ringer" to the BP well.]

Coast Guardsmen went to the location after seeing the oil on a satellite image, Tippets said. The response team collected samples and sent them to the Coast Guard Marine Safety Lab in Connecticut for testing.
***
The sheen is near the spot where, on April 20, 2010, BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded over the Macondo well, killing 11 workers and spewing oil that spread across a huge portion of the Gulf.

This is interesting, and a little disturbing to boot..
(Interview by Washington's Blog with Dr. Robert Bea, a member of the Deepwater Horizon Study Group.)

WB: I have heard that BP is underestimating the size of the oil reservoir. Is it possible that the reservoir is bigger than BP is estimating, and so – if not completely killed – the leak could therefore go on for longer than most assume?

Bea: That’s plausible.

WB: The chief electronics technician on the Deepwater Horizon said that the Macondo well was originally drilled in another location, but that “going faster caused the bottom of the well to split open, swallowing tools”, and that BP abandoned that well. You’ve spoken to that technician and looked into the incident, and concluded that “they damn near blew up the rig.”

Do you know where that abandoned well location is, and do you know if that well is still leaking?

Bea: The abandoned well is very close to the current well location. BP had to file reports showing the location of the abandoned well and the new well [with the Minerals Management Service], so the location of the abandoned well is known.

We don’t know if the abandoned well is leaking.

WB: Matthew Simmons talked about a second leaking well. There are rumors on the Internet that the original well is still leaking. Do you have any information that can either disprove or confirm that allegation?

Bea: There are two uncorroborated reports. One is that there is a leak 400 feet West of the present well’s surface location. There is another report that there is a leak several miles to the West.

[Bea does not know whether either report is true at this time, because BP is not sharing information with the government, let alone the public.]

Random, unacknowledged oil leaks for decades to come?  Who said environmental disasters can't be fun?

Strange Unknown Flying Object over Draa, Syria – Sept 21, 2012

From The Truth Behind The Scenes:

This amazing video of a UFO was filmed on September 21, 2012 around 11:30 Pm over Draa, Syria.

The country is in war, but this thing is not an airplane or helicopter. It has no sound and it appeared for few minutes and then vanished in thin air.
From a safe distance, they watch and wait.

Tens of thousands of Israeli troops in surprise Golan drill. Khamenei: No bending to the West

Sweet.  Armageddon Days are here again!  Debka:

Reservists drafted at no notice, Air Force, Central Command and other IDF units were flown to Israel’s northern Golan border early Wednesday, Sept. 19, for a surprise exercise called by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz under the codename “National Asset.”

The official IDF announcement tried to downplay its importance, describing it as a “planned, routine event.” However, debkafile’s military sources say the war game is the biggest the IDF has conducted in the eight years since the second Lebanon war on Hizballah in 2006, with tens of thousands of soldiers and senior officers, including the artillery and the air force taking part.

Over the last weekend, witnesses reported heavy traffic of convoys of tank and APC carriers and military vehicles with emergency store markings heading north, just days after the IDF completed a large-scale war game on Israel’s Syrian and Lebanese borders simulating a Hizballah attack.

Since early September, therefore, the Israeli Defense Forces have been in the midst of preparations which have the appearance of readiness for a real war rather than an exercise. Those preparations peaked Wednesday under a codename which signified its goal: the defense of national assets.

Another sign of an impending conflict was provided by US diplomats who Monday began destroying classified documents and sensitive equipment at the Beirut embassy. As Islamist anti-US violence raged across Arab and Muslim countries, the State Department said this was a precautionary measure, without naming any specific threat. The trashing of embassy documents usually signifies preparations to evacuate an US embassy at short notice. It would be imperative in a war situation to keep them out of Hizballah hands.

The official IDF announcement described the exercise as focusing on fire power under the command of chief Artillery Commander, Brig. Gen. Ro’i Riftin and due to end Wednesday night. The rapid deployment of military strength on this scale for a live-fire drill is required practice for an army facing the onset of war aggression.

In the Persian Gulf, the US is leading 25 West European and Arab nations in a gigantic 12-day war game in the Straits of Hormuz which began Sunday, Sept 16. It includes a large-scale minesweeping drill to simulate the breaching of the Strait of Hormuz against Iranian efforts to block oil passage through the strategic waterway. The exercise - entirely by simulated measures - will also drill operations for destroying Iranian naval, air and missile bases in the Persian Gulf area and countering Iranian speedboats aiming to sabotage naval vessels and oil tankers.

Among the participants are the UK, France, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The United States has deployed three aircraft carriers with aerial strike forces. Military sources estimate that when the war game ends on Sept 27, these forces will not disperse but stay on hand in the event of Israel attacking Iran’s nuclear program.

As the exhibition of colossal Western might got underway opposite Iranian shores, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was quoted on his official website as saying: Iran will never bend to Western pressure The Islamic Republic, he told a military audience, "makes its decisions solely based on the interests of its people and the country, even if all of the world's powers get angry at its decisions."

It "does not accept the demands of any superpower," he added.
The Ayatollah also accused "Western and Zionist media" of fabricating reports on the biting effects of economic sanctions, hinting that the Iranian economy was not suffering.

Louisiana sinkhole saltier the deeper it gets

I have no idea what this means.  At least one conspiritard thinks Assumption Parish is sinking into the Gulf.  I'm sure Roland Emmerich would like that, but probably not.  One way or the other, the hole's still getting bigger..  The Examiner.

The giant Louisiana sinkhole’s water is far saltier the deeper the hole gets, state environmental regulators said Monday.

“Salinity estimates based on water samples taken earlier this month from a large sinkhole in northern Assumption Parish suggest the water becomes far saltier, even more than in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the deeper the hole gets, state environmental regulators said Monday,” reports David Mitchell for The Advocate.

Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality officials said those test results are pending might indicate the source of the sinkhole water.

“We should be getting it this week,” Chris Piehler, DEQ Inspection Division administrator said Monday.

The expanding sinkhole is now approximately 427 feet deep, less than 300 feet from the top of Texas Brine's salt cavern that stretches down another 2,800 feet in the Napoleonville Salt Dome. Officials say they expect the sinkhole to continue growing.

It's always something with those Cajuns and their sinking land, right?

In The Second Largest Greek City, 1250 Companies Have Shuttered In 2012

Zero Hedge gets to the point:

According to Greek Thema, in Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece, so far in 2012, an unprecedented 1,250 companies have shut down. This means no jobs, no tax revenues, no money in circulation. A complete and total economic collapse.

So let us explain: while Greece and Europe may engage in endless check kiting Ponzi schemes: such as the most recent one, whereby Greece promises to pay Germany by issuing bills, bought by its banks, which in turn are repoed to the ECB via the ELA, with the cash used by the country to pay Germany and the ECB, even as Germany's contingent liabilities get more massive by funding the ECB's capital, the reality is that unless someone does some work, and creates real wealth, real money, instead of merely shuffling electronic cash from Point A to Point B, while the only thing increasing are German contingent liabilities, aka systemic debt, absolutely nothing will change.

And if nothing continues to not change, even perpetuating stasis will be unsustainable.  Greece is the world model:  They will be the first country to collapse, and ultimately, they won't be alone.  Can they come up with a workable internal solution to their accelerating implosion, or will anarchy rule their future?

Sinkhole Swells; Swallows - Seriously!

Giant Louisiana sinkhole expands to 526-feet and swallows a BOAT (but the two clean-up workers in it were rescued just in time).  Things is not kosher.  Daily Mail. Excerpts:

A ginormous 400-foot deep sinkhole in Louisiana is expanding and today swallowed a boat.

Two clean-up workers who were in the boat had to be rescued before they too disappeared into the watery mass, which today grew by another 50ft, authorities said.

The vessel was tied to a tree on the south west side of the site as the workers cleaned up diesel in the sinkhole.

The piece of land where the tree was standing sunk into the growing pool of water, pulling the boat in with it.

The workers were rescued by air boat and did not suffer any injuries but all clean up operations at the site have now been suspended until further notice due to concerns over safety.
'Early this morning they started the clean up operation of the diesel,' said John Boudreaux, director of Office of Emergency Preparedness for Assumption Parish.

'Two of the workers were in a small John's boat and had a rope skimmer. The boat was tied to trees but that edge slouched and basically the boat started to go in with it. There was an air boat nearby and they were rescued as the trees went in and took the boat in too.'

The gaping hole now measures about 526-feet from northeast to southwest and 640-feet from northwest to southeast.
..
Scientists said at a community meeting last Tuesday the sinkhole might be related to a brine cavern owned by Houston-based Texas Brine Co. contained within an underground salt dome.
It has been reported that local officials at Texas Brine have known since at least January 2011 that there have been problems with the structural integrity of a brine cavern that was plugged in June 2010. Officials did not mention those issues at the meeting.

'It's what I've been saying all along, that they've been hiding things,' Rousseau said. 'I think our local officials are trying to do the best they can, but I think they're being hindered by the higher-ups hiding things.'

Rousseau said he was especially worried after a parish official had him fill out a form asking him to list his next of kin last Thursday morning.

'That's a little disturbing to me. They said it's in case they can't reach us to evacuate. But I mean, come on. They can reach everyone,' he said.

Rep. Joe Harrison, R-Napoleonville, said he wanted more transparency and answers from the Office of Conservation. He said he had no idea about structural issues within the brine cavern until he read about them in the paper.

'There is a serious lack of competence now in the state, and we knew nothing. Nothing. Why did they close the mine? We didn't get any answers. It's a real lack of competence now,' Harrison said.

Hey, Representative Harrison, this is the logical end result of your party's "let corporations regulate themselves" approach.  Hiding potential dangers and obfuscating the actual risks.  Now those abstract dangers have become real and affect your district.  Still feeling the same about gutting the DNR or EPA?

Kuzushi (breaking opponent's balance)...

"Fiction" from Clif High at halfpasthuman.  Excerpts:

For another four years, in the heat of the lower bowels of New Yawk, Albert also looked inward, way deep....deep enough to see his crushed femur from the 'inside'. These looks inward were where his insatiable lust for the oblivion of alcohol and drugs could not reach. Way deep. Deeper in the soul than the place from which tears spring. Deeper in the soul than pain. Way deep.

It was the inward look that changed Albert. One hot summer day on a street whose number matters not, from a haze of alcoholic depression, he woke, and was Albert no more. From the deep look that had been begun by Albert, someone, something else emerged.

This someone else found himself saddled with a crushed Albert body that did not suit, so it changed it, slowly over time, with clear water, little food, punishing exercise. After a while, though still Albert-like, even the body was someone else. Something else.

Worth the read.  ADD?  Relax;  It's short.

Warming..

Xymphora was sick but now he(?)'s back.  Thankfully, his(?) writing is still as incisive as ever.  Like a bitch slap to your stupid face:

There is a bizarre bi-partisan - for the most part, and I assume by agreement - plan in current American politics to deal with the problem of global warming by simply not talking about it (the old plan of dealing with it by denying all the science and obvious facts on the ground became too silly even for politicians). Global warming simply does not exist as an issue in American political life, despite the immense effect it is having on the fly-over Americans.

Americans have been doing lots of really, really awful things recently, with no obvious effect on the lives of average Americans (although, believe me, the repercussions are coming). The fact that by ignoring global warming they are going to truly and deeply fuck themselves within a few years is almost heartwarming.

He(?)'s not wrong..

Guest Post: When the Weakest Critical Part Fails, the Machine Breaks Down

Zero Hedge.  Excerpts:

Consumer spending is the bedrock of the global economy, and consumer spending depends on expanding debt and leverage. Once that subsystem fails, consumerism and the global economy grind to a halt.

The failure of any critical subsystem in an organism triggers a catastrophic, fatal decline. It doesn't matter if the rest of the critical subsystems are functioning at optimum levels; the failure of even one essential "part" leads to death.

The metaphor is easily extended to machines, where a perfectly sound engine will fail once the oil pump ceases functioning.

The cliche is that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. The conventional wisdom is that the U.S. economy is so large and diverse that the failure of any one part will have only limited consequences on the economy as a whole.

But this belief was undermined by the financial crisis of 2008, in which the apparently "limited" implosion of subprime mortgage debt dominoed into a full-blown global financial crisis.
..
When financialization fails, the consumerist economy dies. This is what is happening in Greece, and is starting to happen in Spain and Italy.

The central banks and Central States are attempting resuscitation by issuing credit that is freed from the constraints of collateral. The basic idea here is that if credit based on collateral has failed, then let's replace it with credit backed by phantom assets, i.e. illusory collateral.

In essence, the financialization system has shifted to the realm of fantasy, where we (taxpayers, people who took out student loans, homeowners continuing to make payments on underwater mortgages, etc.) are paying very real interest on illusory debt backed by nothing.

Once this flimsy con unravels, the credibility of all institutions that participated in the con will be irrevocably destroyed. This includes the European Central Bank (ECB), the Federal Reserve, the E.U., "too big to fail" banks, and so on down the financialization line of dominoes.

Once credit ceases to expand, asset bubbles pop and consumerism grinds to a halt. And since ever-expanding consumption is the bedrock of the global economy, the global economy will also grind to a halt.

The "flimsy con" is almost fully exposed, and the entire process continues to accelerate.

Sinkhole: Now 372 feet diameter, Only 1500 feet from butane-filled cavern

At this rate of growth, we're seven or eight days out from intersection.  Authorities don't know what is even happening, much less how to address stopping it.    The Examiner:

The initially estimated 200 by 200 feet sinkhole that developed late last week, swallowing ancient cypress trees 100 feet tall near Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou communities in south Louisiana, is now reported to be 380 feet deep with a diameter of 372 feet, filled mainly with salt water with traces of diesel fuel, and only 1,500 feet from a cavern filled with butane, according Tuesday morning news. Analysts' reports further hint that Texas Brine Company's cavern failed, but the butane cavern failing is today's worst-case scenario.

If a nearby butane-filled cavern fails, as it appears the brine cavern did, "it could cause an explosion felt up to two miles away," Fox News 8 reported Tuesday morning. "That's the worst-case scenario."

"All we can tell you right now is we still have bubbling in the bayou and we still don't know what happened and some scientists have pointed out to us that it could go from 200 feet to 2000 feet real quickly. We don't know," said Assumption Parish Sheriff Michael Waguespack on Monday.

After releasing information to the public Monday that the bayou sinkhole is over 380 feet deep, researchers report Tuesday that the diameter of the hole is now 372 feet and has now "swallowed" an acre of the once pristine swampland before oil, gas and salt miners arrived.

Water analysis shows that the water in the sinkhole is comprised mainly of salt water and diesel, both used to stabilize unused salt caverns, officials say.

Some closed salt caverns have diesel fuel at the top as a “pad” to prevent erosion of the salt from the brine, explained John Boudreaux, director of the Assumption Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

Monday's disclosures possibly point to Louisiana Department of Natural Resources officials’ suggestions Friday that the sinkhole was caused by the possibly failed Texas Brine cavern.

“It’s suspect,” Boudreaux said.

Texas Brine company mined deep below the surface for decades but plugged the mine last year by filling it with 20 million barrels of brine, a process that meets the definition of environmental modification, ENMOD.

The company brought geologists from Florida to establish the best way to learn what's going on beneath the surface. Until they know and disclose more about the crisis, homeowners who evacuated might not be able to return, according to Fox News. Residents who did not follow the mandatory evacuation advisory for the area might reconsider. Roughly half of the some 300 people under mandatory evacuation orders remained.

Eventually, sinkholes stop growing.  There is still the possibility that the sinkhole will quit growing before meeting the butane cavern.  That's the best case scenario.  But inertia seems to be indicating otherwise.  More to come..

electric you...

Full text without comment.  Clif High / halfpasthuman:

We live inside an electric universe.

The sun is electric at the core of all its activities, not nuclear as suggested in last century. It must also be acknowledged that even nuclear radioactivity is but a difference in expression of electricity, rather than a difference of kind of energy.

The earth is electric, and produces and interacts with vast numbers of electromagnetic grids naturally occurring.

Humans are electric, and take great delight in playing with the essence of their very nature, electricity. Humans also produce and interact with vast numbers of electromagnetic grids, many not natural, nor native to earth.

You are electric, and as such are also an electricity sensor array of great and subtle power. When the little hairs on the back of your neck go straight up and quiver like a conehead at moons alignment as you pass that dark alley, you are registering the electric potential (voltage) of the bastard deep in the shadows waiting to jack the next fellow walking by. Of course, he was hoping that you were so inebriated (intoxicated) as to have shut down your electrical sensors for danger.
Since we are all electric in an all electric universe, it makes sense (pun intended) that we are sensors to all things electric.....including the future.

In an electric universe, where all motion (expression of time), is electrically powered at the most fundamental level, future manifestations have a form of pre-expression that has been demonstrated by humans (and animals) forever. This pre-manifestation future, is also pre-electric, but so are we, thus our ability to sense it. Western science places such expressions under the category of 'psychic' occurrences. This is merely a label, and an attempt at control of a segment of reality that frequently defies such control efforts of the mainstream mindset.

In an electric universe, energy matters. It is this key element. Energy IS universe. Therefore, in the continuous creation-destruction model of universe that i favor, the idea that there is everything (past, present, future) all expressing themselves in all possible variations (timelines), is wrong. Such is just too wasteful of energy, and does not fit the expressed fractal patterns of how energy is manifest within the material universe.

In the continuous creation-destruction model of universe, there are not multiple timelines. Rather there is a 'reality manifestation membrane' (yes, similar to how string theory represents their idea of 'branes') through which reality is expressed. This 'membrane' is interactive with our consciousness, both individually and collectively. Please note, this includes all beings in universe, not merely humans. As we all (planets, aliens, worms, sea cucumbers, orangoutans, et al) interact individually with the 'reality manifestation membrane', we are also, at too many levels to track, interacting with each other through the membrane. The complexity of these interactions are so vast that our minds place a filter on how we perceive the whole thing, and thus the illusion of solidity and matter are created.

While universe powers us (all beings) individually, we, collectively, power the 'variation' in universe. Because we are all, in our vast numbers, interacting with the reality manifestation membrane, individually, we all make changes in the membrane that affect all other beings in their interactions with the membrane. Thus we have the practical appearance of an infinite level of variation. And that should be clear as this side of the moon during an eclipse.

The reason that this is pertinent has to do with the Farsight.org 2012 experiment. This experiment was ingeniously designed to actively involve universe at a non human level within the results. It worked. It does not, in my opinion, prove the idea of multiple timelines as i have an alternate view of how universe chooses to express itself. However, it does, in my opinion, prove the effectiveness (next year) of remote viewing as a tool for decision making.

In the continuous creation-destruction model, the Farsight 2012 experiment validates many of the 'irrevocable process' descriptions of time provided by Kozyrev in his work (yes, some of his stuff was measuring hyperdimensional effects, but he also nailed the temporal interactive field (membrane)).

In the view of the 'irrevocable process', the up coming 2012/2013 disruptions on earth are even now 'building up' on the 'other side' of the membrane, and that is how the remote viewers in the Farsight experiment picked them up. As well as how our own work described the 'global coastal event' some years back.

In the view of the multiple timelines concept of reality, there are an infinite variation of everything happening all at once. This idea works against demonstrable energy flows in the material universe, but it is a convenient method of thinking about possibilities. However, it has some flaws that are inherent in the lack of complexity being considered, and (in my opinion) makes for potential errors in thinking.

In the view of multiple timelines, some events are so large that 'all timelines must go through them'. In this view of multiple timelines of the 'now', infinitely expressing simultaneously, there is the erroneous idea that one could 'shift timelines'. Even in within this understanding of universe this would not be possible, as your local consciousness could not 'shift' itself out of any temporal 'river' in which it was placed. Not without huge amounts of energy...the energy required to rip your atoms from that stream....so consciousness will not affect your timeline, under this model.

In the 'shifting your timeline theory', you could 'decide' to make certain decisions certain ways, but the argument that any action thus taken would alter your timeline is spurious. Rather it is much easier to conceive of it as being mere determinism forced upon you by the particular timeline (in this model) in which you happen to reside. In this idea you were forced by the timeline you are in to make those decisions that way, even as you think you are changing your timeline by so doing. The 'proof' offered is that you never end up with exactly the timeline viewed by the future forecasters (prophets, remote viewers, all of us nutters). You could just as easily say that the reason that the future never works out as viewed is that you were 'seeing' the other timeline.

Of course it is all very complex (the multiple timelines model) as your consciousness must necessarily be spread across your identity in multiple timelines. This is what is cited as evidence for the theory (self referential so must be discounted) of multiple timelines, as well as being the mechanism, under this model, whereby remote viewers can foresee the future...sometimes. This 'sometimes' qualifier is pertinent as, when they are inaccurate, the 'other timeline being seen' is cited as the reason. As an aside, those in law enforcement will recognize this as the SODDI defense (some other dude did it). In this case, it is some other timeline that was seen, and thus that is the reason for inaccuracy of future forecasts in this multiple timeline model of reality.

It never occurred to me to consider universe in this light in my own work (or i could have claimed to never been wrong...some other time line did it)....rather i use the continuous creation/destruction model in my thinking and our work here at HPH. So in our model, the reality expression membrane is what the remote viewers are feeling up to get their views of things non local. It is also this reality expression membrane that exerts pressure (electrical) on you and all other humans, thus causing y'all to leak out changes in your language that i picked up in my work for our future forecasts.

Now note that my view does not diminish the importance of the Farsight work. It still has universe intruding through their experiment to warn of devastation just ahead......but in my opinion it does not prove multiple timelines. The deviation in viewing in their experiment has to do with how it was structured. In the structure of the experiment a key element is whether or not mainstream academia admits to remote viewing and extra terrestrial life. So, inadvertently, what has been captured, has been a particular layer of interaction between all of us humans, and the reality manifesting membrane.

It does not matter, by the way, whether i am correct in my view, or if the multiple timelines model is a more accurate expression of how universe is organized. We still have the Farsight.org experiment results slapping us in the face and yelling "Yo, humanity, wake up!"

Police: New mom smoked bath salts in Pa. hospital

File Under:  People are still losing their damn minds.  Associated Press, via Century Link:

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — A new mother has been charged with smoking the powerful synthetic stimulant known as bath salts two days after she gave birth, while still in the maternity ward of a central Pennsylvania hospital.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 31-year-old Carla Murphy, of Altoona, who is charged with aggravated assault and various drug counts for allegedly stripping naked and fighting with staff at the Altoona Regional Hospital on June 17. She faces a preliminary hearing Aug. 8.

The Altoona Mirror ( bit.ly/NawCAx) reports hospital police had to be called to subdue Murphy after she stripped, rolled around on the shower floor, and couldn't answer questions from hospital staff.

Police later found the drugs in Murphy's personal effects and at her home.

That little Gemini baby's best chance is a new family.  Yikes.

The good news?  At least she didn't eat the baby.  This is beginning to look like a copycat "Those-dudes-freaked-out, but-I-can-handle-it" type phenomenon.  Stupid people who don't give psychoactive substances the proper respect are intrigued, and more of these cases will pop up as awareness and curiosity increases.  The media will most certainly create more awareness of bath salts, therefore more incidents will occur, therefore the media will report those incidents, growing awareness.  And more people will be intrigued and curious..

There are A Lot of stupid people around, so I doubt this phenomenon will dissipate anytime soon.  My guess is that these incidents will occur in locations where there is already heavy methamphetamine manufacturing, distribution, and usage problems.

BoE's Tucker Preparing To Self-Immolate... And Take Others Down

Oh shit!  I think the dominoes already started falling!  We could be watching a HUGE scandal accompanying total global financial collapse.  But really, when you think of it, why wouldn't there be a HUGE scandal accompanying said global financial collapse?  Zero Hedge:

Paul Tucker, the Bank of England executive at the center of the Barclays/Diamond trigger-conversation, has issued a statement requesting a Treasury hearing to show his "keenness to clarify the position with regard to the events" of that hanging chad of a phone-call. What is most troublesome (for every major banker and politician) is his apparent willingness to take more down with him. As the M.A.D. escalates, MNI reports that minutes from 2007 show Tucker (who was/is in line as we noted yesterday for the top-job once King leaves next year) was fully aware from the early days of the financial crisis that market participants believed Libor was rigged. The Group’s November 2007 minutes, from a Tucker-chaired meeting, state “Several group members thought that Libor fixings had been lower than actual traded interbank rates through the period of stress.” The minutes show that not only was the issue raised back in November 2007 but that the BOE went to great lengths as the crisis deepened the following year to keep its finger on the money markets’ pulse. It seems that instead of mounting the 'plead-da-fif' defense Tucker is coming all-guns-blazing and is willing to drag more names into this miasma as a suicide-bomb of a hearing where the truth is realized could well bring every high ranking banking official to admit the continued unreality of Libor rates.

If this scandal blows up this week, financial news network viewers will see some epic freakouts:  Some meltdowns will be from guests, others will be from on-air personalities.   Maybe not, though.  This might not be the actual chaos trigger.  That might happen a few weeks or months still down the road.  But whenever it does, when LIBOR and Derivatives actually collapse, you will know.  You won't help but know!

Seeds of World War 3: Hezbollah and Iran say they will fight with Assad to defend Syria against any invasion

Another day, another escalation.  The Extinction Protocol.  Excerpts:

Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah and Iran will fight alongside the Syrian regime if it is attacked by foreign forces, a pro-Damascus Palestinian fighter leader said on Tuesday. In the event of “a foreign attack, we discussed with our brothers (in the Syrian regime), with (Hezbollah chief) Hassan Nasrallah and our brothers in Iran, we will be part of this battle,” said Ahmad Jibril of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command. In an interview with Beirut-based Mayadeen television, Jibril said that if a “Turkish-European alliance or NATO escalate… we will take to the streets and fight on behalf of all those with honour and our Syrian brothers.” Jibril also cited Nasrallah as saying Hezbollah would fight on behalf of the Syrian regime, and described the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah alliance as “one axis” that the PFLP-GC is part of. He added that he met recently with Nasrallah, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Syrian President Bashar Al Assad, without specifying when. He also noted that the Hezbollah chief “said he would join this battle, in the event of a foreign attack” on Syria. The Iranian regime, he said, told him it would not allow a strike on Syria. “We have warned the Turks several times not to play with fire,” Jibril said. Echoing the Syrian regime’s discourse, the PFLP-GC chief said the 16-month uprising against Assad was not a genuine local movement, but rather “a change in the foundations of this region in order to create a new Middle East,” referring to a term coined in 2006 by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Jibril described the defence of the Syrian regime as “a decisive battle.” Victory would be necessary, he said, in order to “defeat the American and Zionist projects.” Gulf News

Iran says missiles could destroy US missile bases:  .. Amir Ali Haji Zadeh, commander of the Revolutionary Guards aerospace division, was quoted by Fars news agency as saying. Haji Zadeh said 35 U.S. bases were within reach of Iran’s ballistic missiles, the most advanced of which commanders have said could hit targets 2,000 km (1,300 miles) away. ‘We have thought of measures to set up bases and deploy missiles to destroy all these bases in the early minutes after an attack,” he added. It was not clear where Haji Zadeh got his figures on U.S. bases in the region. U.S. military facilities in the Middle East are located in Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Turkey, and it has around 10 bases further afield in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.  Reuters

U.S. increases military presence:  The United States has quietly moved significant military reinforcements into the Persian Gulf to deter the Iranian military from any possible attempt to shut the Strait of Hormuz and to increase the number of fighter jets capable of striking deep into Iran if the standoff over its nuclear program escalates. The deployments are part of a long-planned effort to bolster the American military presence in the gulf region, in part to reassure Israel that in dealing with Iran, as one senior administration official put it last week, “When the president says there are other options on the table beyond negotiations, he means it.”  New York Times

Turkey recovers pilots’ bodies: Turkey on Wednesday found the bodies of two pilots shot down by Syria last month during a contested flight that pushed the neighbors’ relations to a new low almost a year after Ankara threw its weight behind the opposition to oust President Bashar al-Assad from power. The military General Staff in Ankara said on Wednesday that it was working to remove the bodies of Captain Gokhan Ertan and Lieutenant Hasan Hüseyin Aksoy from the Mediterranean. Turkey didn’t identify the location of the dead pilots or provide any additional details. The armed forces weren’t immediately able to provide comment. Wall Street Journal

Brutal heat wave: 2,000 temperature records have been matched or broken in the past week

Youngblood, it's like this:  While there have been weather extremes throughout history, we are now in a period of increasing, escalating, extreme weather events and those events are occurring globally.  Don't let people tell you this is normal.  It is not.  This is the beginning of some major..  adjustments.  You will need to hang on.  Reuters, via The Extinction Protocol:

July 3, 2012 – CHICAGO- More than 2,000 temperature records have been matched or broken in the past week as a brutal heat wave baked much of the United States, and June saw more than 3,200 records topped, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said Monday. From June 25 to July 1, some 2,171 record temperatures were either broken or matched, the NOAA said. For the 30 days of June, that number rose to 3,215. Accuweather meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said the number of records broken was very unusual. He said that while some aspects of the heat wave are unknown, much of it is because of a lack of snow cover during the late winter on America’s plains. Instead of the sun’s heat melting snow, it instead heated the ground, which in turn warmed the air. The increase in temperature even made crops grow ahead of schedule until now; Sosnowski said the lack of rainfall has stunted crops’ growth. Sosnowski added that while some areas are not unusually warm, namely New England and the Northwest, the center of the country will experience high temperatures for the next several weeks, possibly into August. Five states had more than 100 record temperatures broken in June. Texas had 237 records broken, followed by Colorado (226), Kansas (164), Missouri (126), and Arkansas (115). The NOAA data comes as a relentless heat grips much of the eastern United States for a fourth straight day. About 2.1 million homes and businesses remained without power on Monday after violent storms and soaring temperatures killed at least 18 people since Friday, many of them when trees fell on their cars or houses.

At least we know this:  It kayn't be global warmun 'kuz it's codde owtsaahhd!

Hey;  HEY:  SOMETHING is happening.  Shut the fuck up about what you call it, and start DEALING  WITH IT.

Zombie Apocalypse: Face-Eating In China (Pics)

Must the Chinese jump on every American fad?  Face eating is ours, damnit!  WebProNews.  Excerpts:

The newest “zombie” story to come out is from China, where a bus driver reportedly stopped his bus in traffic, blocking a woman’s car. He then got off the bus, climbed up on the hood of the woman’s car, and began beating at her windshield. When she got out of the car in a panic, he jumped on her and began chewing her face. Allegedly, several people tried to pull the man off, to no avail…although someone had the presence of mind to snap pictures as it was happening. Thank goodness for bystanders! Police eventually responded and took the man into custody.

The bus driver is said to have only been under the influence of alcohol during the attack (although why he was drunk and driving a bus is a question I hope is answered soon). The woman, who was only identified in the Chinese news story as Du (her surname), survived the attack but will undergo surgery to repair her nose and mouth.

Why are people losing their minds in such a spectacular manner?  Are we in the very preliminary stages of some form of global mass hysteria?  Are these isolated incidents signalling a much larger, coming phenomenon?  Is there a combination of factors, or one unifying circumstance overriding peaceful decorum, inciting these violent outbursts?  Still no answers, just more questions..
