Another alteration to the world's official history. In the last several years, archaeologists have found large pyramids and/or ancient urban centers in Central and South America, Africa, and now, Europe. Experts are dating these pyramids 12 to 26 thousand years old, which begs the question: Where is the rest of this history? Was Bosnia the world's seat of power, or one of many more, yet to be discovered pyramids?

Bee decline already having dramatic effect on pollination of plants

During the course of several different conversations with friends who garden(or know those who do), there seems to be a consensus regarding the declining output in their respective harvests. Nothing is producing like it has in years past. Firsthand, I agree. This might be my first year of flying solo, but dad has tended large gardens for well over 50, maybe close to 60 years, and so my "consultant" has a vast storehouse of knowledge and technique he's imparted to me over the last several years. Our vines(The ones not destroyed or repeatedly maimed by a family of groundhogs) didn't come close to last year's yield, and won't. Same with the peppers. Nothing is producing like years past.

This might be why. Excerpts:

Researchers have found that pollination levels of some plants have dropped by up to 50 per cent in the last two decades.

The "pollination deficit" could see a dramatic reduction in the yield from crops.

The research, carried out in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado, is the first to show that the effect is real and serves as a "warning" to Britain which if anything has seen an even greater decline in bees and pollinators.

"I believe that this is the first real demonstration that pollination levels are getting worse. I believe it is a significant decline. I believe the pollination levels have dropped by as much as 50 per cent.

For the latest study, Prof Thomson carried out a 17-year examination of the wild lily in the Rocky Mountains.

It is one of the longest-term studies of pollination ever done.

It reveals a progressive decline in pollination over the years, with particularly noteworthy pollination deficits early in the season.

"Early in the year, when bumble bee queens are still hibernating, the fruiting rates are especially low," he says.

"This is sobering because it suggests that pollination is vulnerable even in a relatively pristine environment that is free of pesticides and human disturbance but still subject to climate change."

So whether or not "Global Warming" is real or not, the effects of "Climate Change" continue to manifest in non, "can't be global warmin' cuz it's cold outside" ways.. How much more information or consequences will it take to sway people's opinions, how do we stop this, and how do we immediately proceed? And how quickly will circumstances degenerate into something much, much worse?

It's Not You, Belgium; It's Me, Belgium

Belgium might be breaking up with itself.. Excerpts:

This is the first I've heard regarding any political turmoil in Belgium. So, to recap.. The King thinks the country could break up, the previous seven weeks of seven party talks(so politically doomed..) were unsuccessful, the Belgian Parliaments form their government on a day to day basis(!!), and they haven't had a stable government in three years. Oh, yeah, and the whole Administrative Chair of the EU thing..

Will Belgium indeed split up? Will it remain peaceful, or will there be unrest during any "reorganization" of the country? If there is violence, just how violent will the situation become? Having no background whatsoever in Belgian politics, I don't know what the best outcome is, I only hope it is the one undertaken..

He's alone in the Brazilian Amazon, but for how long? Excerpts:

The most isolated man on the planet will spend tonight inside a leafy palm-thatch hut in the Brazilian Amazon. As always, insects will darn the air. Spider monkeys will patrol the treetops. Wild pigs will root in the undergrowth. And the man will remain a quietly anonymous fixture of the landscape, camouflaged to the point of near invisibility.

That description relies on a few unknowable assumptions, obviously, but they're relatively safe. The man's isolation has been so well-established—and is so mind-bendingly extreme—that portraying him silently enduring another moment of utter solitude is a practical guarantee of reportorial accuracy.

He's an Indian, and Brazilian officials have concluded that he's the last survivor of an unconnected tribe. They first became aware of his existence nearly 15 years ago and for a decade launched numerous expeditions to track him, to ensure his safety, and to try to establish peaceful contact with him. After years of often-tragic attempts to assimilate into modern life the people who still inhabit the few remaining wild places on the planet, the policy is a step in a totally different direction. The case of the lone Indian represents its most challenging test.

He eats mostly wild game, which he either hunts with his bow-and-arrow or traps in spiked-bottom pitfalls. He grows a few crops around his huts, including corn and manioc, and often collects honey from hives that stingless bees construct in the hollows of tree trunks. We all inhabit multiple universes simultaneously, even at this moment. Your connections and experiences are at once uniquely personal, yet can also be viewed through the larger lenses of family, friends, neighborhoods, towns, etc.., combining and overlapping with other universes just by the act of associating with others. Think about a single string in a piece of cloth; over, under, crossing paths to create something.. Larger.

This man, however, has almost no connections. He truly is "a world of one." His Universe is so far removed from ours that neither he, nor we have much in common aside from sharing the same planet. This "uncontacted" man must be on a much higher spiritual path, with a humble existence, flowing with nature and natural patterns, introverted behavior(and the probability of non-verbal stasis) for great spans of time, if not the majority of his life.

Upon further thought(and if you believe in re-incarnation-which I do), "higher spiritual path" should also include the possibility of reward. Communing with nature and having pure, un-interrupted thought for a large portion of your life sounds like a reward to me. The Buddhists believe in the elimination of Desire, in all its forms. A solitary life committed to nature and thought sounds like a majority of Desire has been eliminated and that a higher plateau has been achieved.

This catastrophe is beyond huge. If Florida or some other predominantly white, U.S. or U.K. aligned country were to disappear underwater, you KNOW there'd be a stink..

Make no mistake, in a year(so far..) filled with big-ass disasters, this one is Top 3, for sure, behind Haiti, and maybe more significant than the oil spill. "On August 1st at 0855 UT, Earth orbiting satellites detected a C3-class solar flare. The origin of the blast was sunspot 1092. At about the same time, an enormous magnetic filament stretching across the sun's northern hemisphere erupted.

Despite the ~400,000 km distance between them, the sunspot and filament seem to erupt together; they are probably connected by long-range magnetic fields. That may have helped propel the filament into space.

This quake shows as being completed with problems, *such as yet more [wedding interruptions] by August 3, however the data accretion patterns point to the last two days of July as the point of impact and largest number of after shocks. By noting the odd number of longer term indicators for [water pathways change] in the data accretion patterns for November and onward in 2010. A significant majority of these traced back to something in the immediacy data that turned out to be this pending earthquake in very late July. "

This just fell out' from the processing of the long term data set values which should result in a longer view of the data...out to beyond the end of this year. The expectation is that there will be a new report available sometime around the August 10-period. But, the reason for mentioning this now is that there is still plenty of time to get the stored water checked, food, first aid kits, and such on the West Coast. "

Soooo...i was wrong about the earthquake, and instead we had a global, solar quake and a ????something new??? that will hit earth on August 3rd. This is likely the 'event' that will trigger the [water way changes] showing as being [repaired (in some locales)] by late March of 2011. Of course, now that we know it is a solar event, and that the energies are headed toward earth, we can expect a whole series of earthquakes over these next (likely 2/two) weeks. Why was there no mention of a tremor before the explosion? This story was 14 hours into its genesis and only after eight hours was the "wave angle" introduced as the "official explanation." Not that a wave couldn't cause this scenario, I find it terribly odd, though that a magnitude 3.4 quake could cause a wave that would, in turn, rock a SUPERTANKER and subsequently, cause an explosion. Any explosion. Any. Explosion.

And another thing: Wouldn't seamen Know what a freak wave feels like? Really; shouldn't that almost have to be mentioned more in the initial reports? I am no expert on anything naval, oceanographic, or seismological, but this just doesn't sound(or feel) right..

I never really thought out any scenario involving mass panic and the Love Parade(especially the original festival in Germany), but tragically, Saturday, they connected. One of the biggest Utopian festivals on the planet fell victim and died to the negative forces its participants strived so hard to rise above. What a terrible (and so unexpected!) way to die, not knowing why the crowd has turned, only that everything got horrible, quickly. While other current events might be bigger or more tragic, this really shakes me up. The Love Parade. The last place on Earth one would expect anyone to die..

I imagine the festival is dead now, too. Engineers are keeping watch over the well for a two-day period in a scientific, round-the-clock vigil to see if the well's temporary cap is strong enough to hold back the oil, or if there are leaks either in the well itself or the sea floor. One mysterious development was that the pressure readings were not rising as high as expected, said retired Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the government's point man on the crisis.

Allen said two possible reasons were being debated by scientists: The reservoir that is the source of the oil could be running lower three months into the spill. Or there could be an undiscovered leak somewhere down in the well. Allen ordered further study but remained confident.

Rumors of at least one other leak have been all over the net since almost the beginning of the Oil Catastrophe. Is this a way for the government to introduce the idea to the populace?

"I move from there through the carriage and started to shout at the people because somebody shouted to me that they were going to set the train on fire. They just couldn't comprehend what was going on."

Monkeys use trees to catapault themselves out of Japanese laboratory

Monkeys at a research institute in Japan have used the branches of trees to catapault themselves over an electric fence in order to escape. Excerpts:

A group of 15 monkeys at Kyoto University's primate research institute in Aichi Prefecture, which are the focus of a string of high-profile scientific studies, escaped from their forest home which is encased by a 17ft high electric fence.

The monkeys made their bid for freedom by using tree branches to fling themselves one by one over the high voltage electric fence located nearly three metres away.

However, despite the intelligence shown in their great escape, the primates appeared unsure as to what to do with their newfound freedom: the monkeys remained by the gates of the research centre and were lured back into captivity by scientists armed with peanuts.

It's now July 7th, the oil continues unabated, and a one shot only relief well strategy is still a month out. What if it fails?

Church Office Failed to Act on Abuse Scandal

After a previous posting about the Pope Ratzinger and the ever expanding sexual abuse scandal within the Catholic Church, a friend wanted to know why, since abuse happens also in Protestant churches, why does the media focus seem to just be on the Catholics? I think the sheer size of the Church as compared to the fragmentation that is the nature of Protestantism plays a role. Usually, the sexual scandals involving Protestants(at least here in the Midwest) involve straight sexual hi jinks, and while lurid, they are not as creepy or media-sensational as pedophilia is.

The two biggest reasons, though, for worldwide focus on the Catholic Church are: The institutionalized, knee-jerk, denial and cover up response for all allegations about sexual abuse, and the current Pope's past involvement with that very Institutional Response. Some snippets:

In its long struggle to grapple with sexual abuse, the Vatican often cites as a major turning point the decision in 2001 to give the office led by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger the authority to cut through a morass of bureaucracy and handle abuse cases directly.
..

But church documents and interviews with canon lawyers and bishops cast that 2001 decision and the future pope’s track record in a new and less flattering light.

And:

Yet throughout the ’80s and ’90s, bishops who sought to penalize and dismiss abusive priests were daunted by a bewildering bureaucratic and canonical legal process, with contradicting laws and overlapping jurisdictions in Rome, according to church documents and interviews with bishops and canon lawyers.

Besides Cardinal Ratzinger’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, bishops were sending off their files on abuse cases to the Congregations for the Clergy, for Bishops, for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, and for the Evangelization of Peoples — plus the Vatican’s Secretariat of State; its appeals court, the Apostolic Signatura; and the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts.

“There was confusion everywhere,” said Archbishop Philip Edward Wilson of Adelaide, Australia.

A new Code of Canon Law issued in 1983 only muddied things further, among other things by setting a five-year statute of limitations within which abuse cases could be prosecuted.

As Father Gauthé was being prosecuted in Louisiana, Cardinal Ratzinger was publicly disciplining priests in Brazil and Peru for preaching that the church should work to empower the poor and oppressed, which the cardinal saw as a Marxist-inspired distortion of church doctrine(Translation: He'd vote Republican.). Later, he also reined in a Dutch theologian who thought lay people should be able to perform priestly functions, and an American who taught that Catholics could dissent from church teachings about abortion, birth control, divorce and homosexuality.

Here's a biggie:

Cardinal Ratzinger also focused on reining in national bishops’ conferences, several of which, independent of Rome, had begun confronting the sexual abuse crisis and devising policies to address it in their countries. He declared that such conferences had “no theological basis” and “do not belong to the structure of the church.” Individual bishops, he reaffirmed, reigned supreme in their dioceses and reported only to the authority of the pope in Rome.

This is nice..

Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos, then the head of the Congregation for the Clergy, set the tone, playing down sexual abuse as an unavoidable fact of life, and complaining that lawyers and the media were unfairly focused on it, according to a copy of his prepared remarks. What is more, he asked, is it not contradictory for people to be so outraged by sexual abuse when society also promotes sexual liberation?

Soo.. The person most familiar with The Bigger Picture regarding the entire scandal for the last 20 years, the man who actually blocked progress aimed at righting situations and preventing abuse, is now The Pope. The man who oversaw the Church's official response towards pedophilia, had-other-priorities. Why would anyone believe this man and his institution of behaving any differently than in the past?

To answer (alternately)from a marketing standpoint: The Catholic Church will never get out in front of this scandal. Even if they could move that fast, they first would would need the inclination, which clearly they do not have. And clearly, this scandal will continue to grow..

First-Ever Photo Of Alien Planet Finally Confirmed

An image taken in 2008 by the Gemini Observatory has finally been confirmed to be the first direct image taken by a ground-based telescope of an "alien planet" (a planet outside our solar system).

In 2008, astronomers snapped an image of the exoplanet, which is eight times the mass of Jupiter, "using visible light observations from telescopes on Earth," according to Space.com.

The planet is orbiting a star in the 1RXS J160929.1-210524 (or 1RXS 1609 for short) solar system, a part of the 5-million-year-old cluster of stars known as the Upper Scorpius Association, which is around 500 light-years away from earth.

Knowledge, as an entity, is growing so quickly and cohesively that soon, Exponential Growth won't be an expansive enough definition for What Has Happened.

Computer program deciphers a dead language that mystified linguists

Spoken 3,500 years ago in the city of Ugarit, located in modern Syria, the language is a Semitic relative of Hebrew, although its alphabet closely resembles the cuneiform used in ancient Sumeria. The surviving Ugaritic texts tell the stories of a Canaanite religion that is similar but not identical to that recorded in the Old Testament, providing Bible scholars a unique opportunity to examine how the Bible and ancient Israelite culture developed in relation to its neighbors.

So the Canaanite religion is older and similar.. But not identical. Once over, the older religion is not identical, but similar to the younger Jewish version of the Old Testament. Similar. Not.. Identical. How dare this 3500 year old religion differ from the Official Story?

..The issue is the July 11th break into 18 and a half hours of release language. George, and apparently others, are under the impression that some big 'thing' would happen on that date. This may well be the case, however, note that the release language (all the downward slanting lines in the charts below) continues all summer as punctuations to building tension. So the pattern from July 11th through to November 8th is one of building tension and then release of tension, almost on a daily basis. Note that this is the USUAL state of our charts for the planet. What is unusual is that we have been in a very long period of building tension for these past few months. What is also unusual is the 'tipping point' that is forecast to occur over 4 days in November from the 8th through the 11th inclusive. Then what is even more unusual is that the release language continues unabated, without deviation for over 2 months, from November 11th through to January 23rd.

So, knowing that the September 11th attacks on the money center of the planet by TPTB (we call this the 9/11 event), had a tipping point that lasted about 4 hours, followed by 12 hours of release language, before returning to building tension language as the planet tried to sort things out the next day, we can base our speculations on what may occur given the values that we have forecast for release and building tension language trends. .
