Mysterious Baltic Sea Object analyzed so far – Sept 23, 2012

Jonesing for the latest Baltic Anomaly update?  Me too!  The Truth Behind The Scenes:

Swedish seafaring treasure hunters Ocean X Team made headlines last year with the accidental discovery of a mysterious circular object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.


Now, thanks to more exploration and a laboratory analysis of stones on and around the object, they’re a step closer to lifting the veil on the mystery.

The stones that lay on the object turned out to be red granite which came with the ice age. Dennis Åsberg’s theory is when the ice melted, the stones landed on the object.That would mean it should have been there more than 140 000 years.

Recent examination of the object has revealed a hole about two meters in diameter and that the object is not anchored to the ground.

Dennis Åsberg: ”We have discovered that the object is separated from the ocean floor it’s laying on a ridge, we’ve investigated the object with the ROV robot and looked at the object from below. One can see that the bottom and the object is separated. ”

The material of the object is too hard, so it has not been possible to remove anything from it yet, says Dennis.

But they have managed to bring up some stones that have been on and around the anomaly for analysis.

The team have also found many black magma-like stones at the site.

The theory is that the object must have been at a very high temperature at some point. This caused stones in its vicinity to become charred.

Dennis Åsberg: ”As I see it, when we’ve been and looked at it, it looks really strange to me, it looks like something is designed, in that we have these angles, 90 degree angles, the aisles of the object.”

Dennis hopes that their next expedition will be in spring when the frigid Nordic weather has improved.

Baltic Anomaly: New Expedition After Astonishing Images

Baltic X is back, baby!  After a botched attempt in July(Short answer:  Bad weather/Equipment malfunctions), the Ocean X team is currently on-site (As of Sept. 7 or 8), and hopes to have a much more comprehensive expedition this time around.  Truthfall.  Excerpts(With Sonar images and "artist interpretation" goodness at the link):

The team, led by OceanX founders Dennis Aasberg and Peter Lindberg will leave Norrtälje harbour, Sweden on the 8th September after a second trip in July ended in disappointment due to multiple equipment failures. Despite this previous setback, the team are determined to get answers and when you see the latest sonar images you will understand why.

This unnatural looking mushroom shaped structure protrudes vertically upwards out of the normally featureless seabed by an incredible 12 metres (40 feet) with the dome on top spanning an impressive 60 metres (180 feet) – equivalent to the wingspan of a commercial airliner. This is no small find!

Not only is the massive scale of the object utterly impressive, but the other thing that hits you between the eyes is also how ridiculously out of place it seems. The Baltic Sea is what’s known as a “dead-zone” with massive expanses of flat and featureless seabed. Yet in the middle of it all we find a 12 metre high champagne cork shaped object literally – “sticking up like a sore thumb”. Then there is the tantalizing prospect of the as yet uninvestigated second and third anomalies lying close by and begging closer inspection.

When news first broke of the finding back in June 2011, a sensationalist world media jumped on the images comparing the sidescan sonar images to Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon. In truth, there was a very real visual similarity when the top-down views were compared but not much in the way of substance beyond that. The OceanX team, like the rest of us, were eager to solve the mystery and so here we are on the verge of another return trip and another voyage into the unknown, or perhaps a voyage into our own distant human origins.   I still believe in you , Baltic Anomaly.  Nessie, Bigfoot, and I will be awaiting your findings with bated breath!  And by "findings," I mean PICTURES PICTURES PICTURES!

Another Day, Another Anomaly Over Antarctica..

This time it's a sweet-ass UFO, not a planet.  Or a weather balloon.  Neumayer Station certainly is popular!  The Truth Behind The Scenes:

A video taken of the Antarctic research station Neumayer-Station III appears to show what some are calling a UFO over the South Pole.


The video seems to show a round, blurry object floating above the station on Aug. 10. Speculation has run rampant, with conspiracy theorists and UFO buffs swapping explanations ranging from government collaboration with aliens to a top-secret test of some new cutting-edge secret weapon.

While a definitive explanation has not been found, several elements suggest a prosaic answer. The supposed UFO appears more or less directly over the research station; it also appears to be nearly perfectly round and about the right size for a balloon. Neumayer-Station III, a scientific research station, carries out tests and experiments in a wide variety of areas, including geophysics, meteorology and atmospheric chemistry. Weather balloons are used extensively to study and sample the atmosphere at different times and altitudes above Antarctica.

This sighting has a better than average chance that it is indeed a weather balloon.  But then again, maybe not.  Either way, here you go.

What's in there? Scientists fascinated after NASA orbiter photographs open crater leading into underground cavern on Mars  The Daily Mail.  Excerpts:

Nasa scientists are baffled as to what - or maybe even who? - created this unusual hole on the surface of Mars. The hole was discovered by chance on images of the dusty slopes of the Red Planet's Pavonis Mons volcano.  It appears to be an opening to an underground cavern, partly illuminated to the right of the opening.

Holes such as this are of particular interest because their interior caves are relatively protected from the harsh surface of Mars, making them relatively good candidates to contain Martian life.

These pits are therefore prime targets for possible future spacecraft, robots, and even human interplanetary explorers. The images were taken by the HiRISE instrument aboard the robotic Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter currently circling Mars.

Scientist claims jellyfish-like aliens exist

Not your garden variety flying saucers and anal probers, to be sure, but then again, maybe we've just been looking in the wrong places..  The Telegraph.  Excerpts:

Dr Maggie Alderin-Pocock envisages creatures that float through clouds of methane, scooping chemical nutrients into their gaping mouths.



The aliens keep themselves aloft by means of dangling onion-like buoyancy bags, and communicate with pulses of light.


Dr Alderin-Pocock, a leading scientist at European space company Astrium, said: “Our imaginations are naturally constrained by what we see around us, and the conventional wisdom has been that life needs water and is carbon-based.


“But some researchers are doing exciting work, playing with ideas such as silicon-based life forms.

“Silicon is just below carbon in the periodic table, has some chemical similarities, and is widely available in the universe.

“So perhaps we could imagine similar instructions to DNA but with silicon.



“Maybe life doesn’t have to resemble anything like DNA at all.”


Her aliens would probably die on Earth, finding the damp oxygenated atmosphere lethally corrosive. Equally, humans would not survive on Titan.
 

Based on the latest discoveries of star-orbiting planets, she also believes as many as four intelligent extraterrestrial civilisations could exist in our galaxy, the Milky Way. But they are so far away it is unlikely we will ever meet them.


“The Voyager 1 spacecraft, which is carrying a recording of greetings from Earth in different languages, has been travelling through the Solar System since the 1970s and has only just made it into deep space,” she said.


“To get to our nearest neighbouring star, Proxima Centauri, would take it 76,000 years.”

Rather than looking up, maybe we should be looking down..

In the summer of 1982, Mark Shteynberg, along with Lt. Colonel Gennady Zverev, were conducting periodic training of the reconnaissance divers (“frogmen”) of the Turkestan and Central Asian military regions. The training exercises had been taking place at the Issik Kul Lake, a deep water lake in the Transiliysk Ala Tau area.

Quite unexpectedly the officers were paid a visit by a very important official, Major-General V. Demyanko, commander of the Military Diver Service of the Engineer Forces of the Ministry of Defense, USSR. He arrived to inform the local officers of an extraordinary event the had occurred during similar training exercises in the Trans-Baikal and West Siberian military regions. There, during their military training dives, the frogmen had encountered mysterious underwater swimmers, very human-like, but huge in size (almost three meters in height!)



The swimmers were clad in tight-fitting silvery suits, despite icy-cold water temperatures. At the depth of fifty meters, these “swimmers” had neither scuba diving equipment (“aqualungs”), nor any other equipment, only sphere-like helmets concealing their heads.


Well, the local military commander (quite alarmed by such encounters) decided to capture one of the creatures. With that purpose in mind, a special group of seven divers, under the command of an officer, had been dispatched.


As the frogman tried to cover the creature with a net, the entire group was thrown out of the deep waters to the surface by some powerful force. Now, because autonomous equipment of the frogmen does not allow surfacing from such depths without strict adherence to the process of decompression stops, all of the members of the ill-gated expedition were stricken by aeroembolism, of the Caisson disease. The only remedial treatment available consisted of an immediate confinement under decompression conditions in a pressure chamber. They had several such pressure chambers in the military region, but only one in working condition. It could contain no more than two persons.


Hence, local CO had forced four frogmen into the chamber. As a result, three of them (including the leader of the group) perished, and the rest became invalids – terrible consequences caused by the usual Soviet military bungling.

The major-general rushed to the Issik Kul to warn the local military against similar “devil-may-care” actions. Although the Issik Kul Lake is more shallow than the Baikal Lake, the depth of the former was sufficient to contain similar mysterious creatures. Did the major-general know something that Officer Shteynberg did not?

Maybe, just maybe there are several, Several types of unknown organisms all here at the same time?  They don't all have to be little green men, do they?

Are you kidding me?  There's a second anomaly?  The suspense is killing me here!  Rather than finding one or two unknown entities, what if explorers have happened upon an unknown/unexplained area?  One of the coolest stories of 2012.  The Truth Behind The Scenes.  Excerpts:

Baltic Sea UFO Update June 28, 2012.



This is turning into one of the most amazing and perplexing discoveries in history. If you thought all of the questions surrounding the Baltic anomaly would be answered by the return trip, then you’d be wrong. The OceanX team have discovered right angles, walls with absolutely smooth surfaces and cavities-like corridors inside the object as well as something resembling a staircase – the weird just got weirder.
And:
In a recent Swedish radio interview, Aasberg described some amazing features which seem to indicate that the object is man made, or perhaps a natural formation that has been altered or engineered. In various radio and TV interviews the team have described the surfaces of the dome to be similar to concrete both in texture and appearance. The massive pillar on which the dome rests may be made of a different material indicating that the entire anomaly may not be one complete piece but rather two separate objects with the dome resting on top of the main pillar, and if so, who or what placed the dome on top? Also, when we say pillar – this is a pillar that is approx 180-190 feet thick.



“We arrived there twice, and the question mark has become so much bigger now, “says Dennis Åsberg.The area is a completely circular plate with 180 metres in circumference, and therefore believed that it was the first traces of a meteor.”


“But there are 1,500-metre track in bed until the subject matter-and they have also discovered right angles, walls with absolutely smooth surfaces and cavities-like corridors inside the object.– When we went out and saw the walls which were straight and smooth, it was frightening, as in a science-fiction film, “says Dennis Åsberg on Ocean x-team as soon exploring the unknown object again.“


During the dive, the team swam slowly over the top of the object looking down where they encountered the first of many strange sights. Stone circles, like “fireplaces”, of hard black “almost petrified” burnt looking stone each a few inches in diameter, like 4 or 5 pearls in a necklace in various arrangements on top of the dome some 12 metres high off the seabed. The stones appear to be arranged in definite circular shapes, so there is no possibility of this being done through any natural process of weathering or even glaciation.
And:
Some 200 metres away lies the second strange anomaly which is amazingly yet to be explored! The initial sidescan sonar images show something described by the team as shaped like a “gothic church window”. Similar to the main anomaly this object also has an area leading up to it of disturbed seafloor or what could be a ridge. The divers were so amazed by the main anomaly that they simply didn’t have time to dive on the second one. The return trip in two weeks time should present an opportunity for this to finally be explored.

There is the real possibility that the second anomaly may help give clues to the origin and nature of the main object.

Lindberg concludes: “The 3D Multibeam sonar data take a while to process. It will not be until end of next week we will be able to see the first 3D images from the area. I have seen the raw data though and if what I have seen will be confirmed by the finished result we will get some quite amazing facts to think about.”

So tantalizing..  I can't wait!  Provided this isn't a hoax, this could be a huge discovery..  But where?  Again:  What is this?  Alien technology?  Ancient settlement?  UFO?  Rooftop?  Outskirts of something larger? 

Somebody somewhere needs to fasttrack and enlarge this project yesterday already!  This discovery could be big clue for us, about us.  It has that potential.  I hope it's made a priority.

Parts of Mars Interior as Wet as Earth's

The interior of Mars holds vast reservoirs of water, with some spots apparently as wet as Earth's innards, scientists say.

The finding upends previous studies, which had estimated that the Red Planet's internal water stores were scanty at best — something of a surprise, given that liquid water apparently flowed on the Martian surface long ago.

"It’s been puzzling why previous estimates for the planet’s interior have been so dry," co-author Erik Hauri, of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, said in a statement. "This new research makes sense and suggests that volcanoes may have been the primary vehicle for getting water to the surface."

The scientists examined two Martian meteorites that formed in the planet's mantle, the layer under the crust. These rocks landed on Earth about 2.5 million years ago, after being blasted off the Red Planet by a violent impact.

Using a technique called secondary ion mass spectrometry, the team determined that the mantle from which the meteorites derived contained between 70 and 300 parts per million (ppm) of water. Earth's mantle, for comparison, holds roughly 50-300 ppm water, researchers said.

"The results suggest that water was incorporated during the formation of Mars and that the planet was able to store water in its interior during the planet’s differentiation," Hauri said.

Some of this water apparently made its made to the surface in the ancient past. NASA's Spirit and Opportunity rovers, which landed on the Red Planet in 2004, have found plenty of evidence that Mars was far warmer and wetter billions of years ago than it is today.

The two golf-cart-size robots have even spotted signs of ancient hydrothermal systems, suggesting that some places on the Red Planet once had both water and an energy source — two key ingredients for the existence of life as we know it.

Baltic Sea UFO Continues To Confound; A Closer Look Yields Even More Questions

Ocean X team returns from their first expedition investigating the mysterious object they discovered in the Baltic Sea.

The expedition was supposed to provide answers, but instead yielded yet more questions.
It has also broadened the minds of those involved!


[Peter Lindberg, Treasure Hunter]:
“We have experienced things that I really couldn’t imagine and I have been the team's biggest skeptic regarding these different kind of theories. I was kind of prepared just to find a stone or cliff or outcrop or pile of mud but it was nothing like that, so for me it has been a missing experience I must say.” (Chinese translation, maybe?  I don't know what a "missing experience" is..)


The team were completely dwarfed by the mysterious object, which is about 60 meters in diameter and lying almost 80 meters down on the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
There are visible formations on top of the object, which are set at a 90 degree angle and look like passageways or walls, as well as something that looks like it could be a staircase.The divers also found a hole about 25 centimeters in diameter, though it is not yet known where it leads.
In addition, they found circular forms of small rocks that appear to have been placed like a pearl necklace.
Geologists who follow their work haven´t been able to explain what it is yet.

Also, some strange phenomenon occurred…

A main objective of the dive was to film the object, and yet the camera stopped working when they approached the object.


[Stefan Hogerborn, Professional Diver]:
“Why isn’t anything working, anything electric out there and the satellite phone as well stopped working when we were above the object and then we got away about 200 meters and it turned on again and when we got back over the object it didn’t work so that’s kind of strange as well.”


Mr Hogerborn says he has never experienced anything like this during his 20 years as a professional diver.


Dennis Åsberg of the Ocean X team is one hundred percent sure after the first expedition that they have found something quite unusual.

"I am one hundred percent convinced and confident that we have found something that is very, very, very unique. Then if it is a meteorite or an asteroid or a volcano or a base from, say, a U-boat from the Cold War which has manufactured and placed there, yes, or if it's a UFO, well honestly it has to be something."


Lab results will be forthcoming, and a second expedition is already planned to depart in two weeks.

Every new discovery adds to the intrigue..  Oh, Baltic anomaly, I love your mysterious ways!  Will you please turn out to be something much larger and cooler than our limited imaginations can fathom?  Also, if you could, please don't be the property of  some race of jerk ass aliens with a taste for human flesh!  Inter-galactic hugs and kisses!

Controversial Artifacts No One Wants To Examine

An extremely high tech civilization definitely existed in the distant past of our planet, we currently know nothing about these beings.
Most of what we can learn about prehistoric people is from the artifacts they left behind.

However, certain prehistoric findings seem to be extremely frustrating when it comes to analyzing their unknown properties.

One of them is the three-pronged plug embedded in a small piece of granite.

Despite that the artifact is available to any researcher for analysis, not many of them decided to test it!

Instead, the artifact has been categorized as a hoax – without any examination.

Is there something we are afraid of discovering?

This mysterious archaeological finding was discovered accidentally by electrical engineer John J. Williams in 1998. Like many other precious, though undervalued artifacts, it may constitute a proof that extraterrestrial visitations to the planet Earth widely influenced our ancestors, so they became advanced and civilized and walked the earth long before any of the known ancient cultures came into existence.

Based on a few, preliminary consultations with an engineer and geologist, the artifact has an appearance of an electronic component embedded in a naturally formed, solid granite stone composed of quartz and feldspar – including very small percentages of mica – already existed at the time of the formation of the rock.

In addition, it resembles an electronic XLR connector or another very similar component and reveals no trace of having been glued or welded.

Treasure hunters confirm they have found something abnormal in the seabed
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 15, 2012

The Ocean X Team dove down to the circle-shaped object in the Baltic Sea and met something they never experienced before. First they thought it was just stone or a rock cliff, but after further observations the object appeared more as a huge mushroom, rising 3-4 meters/10-13 feet from the seabed, with rounded sides and rugged edges. The object had an egg shaped hole leading into it from the top, as an opening. On top of the object they also found strange stone circle formations, almost looking like small fireplaces. The stones were covered in something resembling soot.

“During my 20-year diving career, including 6000 dives, I have never seen anything like this. Normally stones don’t burn. I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions “, says Stefan Hogeborn, one of the divers at Ocean X Team.

The path to the object itself can be described as a runway or a downhill path that is flattened at the seabed with the object at the end of it.

“First we thought this was only stone, but this is something else. And since no volcanic activity has ever been reported in the Baltic Sea the find becomes even stranger. As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver“, continues Peter Lindberg, one of the founder Ocean X Team.

Right now, scientists are examining samples from the circle-shaped object, and experts in sonar imaging are processing data from the ship to hopefully shed more light over the mysterious object.

Baltic Sea 'UFO' still cloaked in secrecy

Some more background, and a better perspective on whatever this anomaly turns out to be..  The Examiner. Excerpts:

The so-called "Baltic Sea UFO" is in the news again this week after a research vessel returned to its co-ordinates and sent a team of divers down to the seabed for a closer look. Despite having a live feed and access to updates on Facebook, so far, only cryptic messages have been released.


What's down there? At this point, it's either the biggest story the world has ever known or a massive publicity stunt engineered to lure in faithful UFO disclosure advocates. Either way, the public (believers and non-believers alike) are waiting for every breathless dispatch.

The story began last summer when treasure hunters Peter Lindberg and Dennis Asberg were sweeping an area off the Swedish coast when their side-scan SONAR picked up a large, rounded object on the seabed hundreds of feet below the surface.
Initial observation aboard the vessel revealed the object was not like any other sunken vessel ever discovered because of its immense size (200 feet in circumference) and its unusual, circular shape. Not having the means to dive down on the mystery object, its position was recorded and all data saved for later review.


In July, 2011, Lindberg and Asberg studied the data further and released a video of the SONAR images on YouTube, which quickly went viral. Paranormal researchers immediately seized on the video as evidence of ancient alien visitation and the object was nicknamed the "Millennium Falcon" because of its uncanny resemblance to the spaceship made famous by the Star Wars saga.


For his part, Lindberg has left the alien speculation open to debate. In his initial statements he landed on the side of something man-made and floated the possibility of a sunken Stonehenge or a remnant of the fabled Lost City of Atlantis.

Debunkers (mainly scientists) have decried the early speculation, believing rather that the object is merely an anomaly of the equipment used or perhaps a sunken vessel, possibly of Russian origin, lost more than a century ago.

Still, the story was much too juicy to let it go at that, and, over the winter and spring of 2011-2012 donations came pouring in for a revisit to the site.

Over the past few days, only dribs and drabs of information have been forthcoming, the most tantalizing being the "breaking news" dispatch released on June 7, from the research team's own website, claiming that, "The divers are now down and investigating the circle and reports from the ship say they are really amazed. There is definitely something unusual hiding at the seabed – a Mystery Beneath. More information and pictures will be released next week."

Then, on Sunday, Dennis Asberg sent out a Facebook update which only adds to the confusion while deepening the mystery--and the hype. "Everything is top secret now because of the risks, hope you all understand this is no game." posts Asberg. "But the truth will be reported shortly."

Sketchy details are more the province of the treasure hunter rather than the legitimate scientist, so these dispatches have to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. But, if there is a startling, world-changing discovery in the offing, even the dedicated professional would be hard-pressed on just how to release that news.

So, maybe, there is something to this after all. If it turns out to be the prototype gun turret from some old Russian warship, it will still be an important archaeological find.

But, if it ends up being real evidence that ancient aliens have indeed visited Earth, it could be the biggest story of all time.

Either way, stay tuned...

I like this interpretation of events a little better than yesterday's post, as the term "hoax" was thrown out far too quickly to be impartial or realistic.  Events unfolding in real time do not have a schedule, and are not subject to the whims and wishes of the Internet observer or blogger.  This event will play out as it plays out, and I, for one, will be patient for whatever statement Ocean X provides..  When they provide it.  If it is indeed a Russian warship, that will be a cool consolation prize, as any new archaeological find always is..

Having said that, I'd still love to see this "anomaly" rise out of the ocean, live on every news network, and fly off.  If that happens, I will go crazy with glee!  C'mon aliens:  Give us a show!

Just a quick update with some new developments that’s been causing havoc on the Ocean X Team’s Facebook page, which has seen a lot of non-moderated activity in the last couple of days.  Moderators stepped in quickly today though when a local long-time professional marine archaeological diver — a resident of Norrtälje, where the Ancylus is moored — posted a picture of her son on the Ancylus bridge together with a comment that read along the lines of “no no, the anomaly is surely not a UFO.” The photo and comment were quickly deleted.


Viral marketing 101 — control the flow of information!

This new direction is interesting.  So far, the narrative has gone from "There's Something down there!," to "Russia and US don't want us to see it!," to "It's all Top Secret!," to "It's a hoax!"  This is classic "You-know-that-I-know-that-you-know-that-I-know" PsychOut.  Is there something to this cascade of events, or is this part of the trickery?  No one knows for sure:  It really is a brilliant strategy!

The question remains:  Is there a damn 200 foot wide UFO in the Baltic Sea, or what?  If, in the future, a huge UFO jumps out of the sea and starts flyin' around, we will know for sure.  Until then, I really have no idea how this one will end..

Giant Hint from Space Aliens....

From Clif High over at Half Past Human.  An omen of future weirdness to come sooner than later?  Maybe not.  Maybe, though.. Excerpts:

Remember to think about how you are reacting as you first see the Giant Hint from our space alien brothers. Remember to look and count stuff. It was instantly apparent to me that part of the message refers to the 28 day lunar cycle. The whole seven by 4 with waning involved...

Then there is the many other layers of archetypes that jump out. The 'relaxed grip'. The connection by counting to the development process of the chakra system of both humans and universe (hint: 7 chakras, and each goes through 4 specific stages of development in the enlightenment process).

Then there is the whole question of 'assumed context'. If this is a message from our space alien brothers, then what do they know? It is clear what message they intend to convey, but why stress this aspect of human behavior?

Is something wicked this way coming such that we need to take the steps suggested? And are we meant to continue it as a solid practice for the next 28 days?
