An honest mistake, I'm sure..

Should he recuse himself from any future tax discussions? Regarding his Senate aspirations: Sure he can win, but can he win outside Moralton? The link to the Seventh District won't work, for some reason, so here's the cut and paste..

Missouri's 7th congressional district consists of Southwest Missouri. The district includes
Springfield, the home of Missouri State University (formerly known as Southwest Missouri State University), and the popular tourist destination city of Branson. Located along the borders of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Northwest Arkansas, the district takes in a huge chunk of the Bible Belt, making it the most Republican district in the state with a strong socially conservative trend. George W. Bush defeated John Kerry 67% to 32% in Election 2004.
The district is currently represented by
Roy Blunt (R-Springfield) who will be vacating the seat in 2010 to seek the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Kit Bond.

McCain received less than 60 percent in only Greene County, where Obama may have been helped by the college subplot presence of Missouri State University.

R.I.P. Jay Bennett

Jay Bennett, a seven-year member of mega-awesome band Wilco, passed away Sunday. Bennett's career floundered after leaving the band, and he never repeated his earlier success as a solo act. Bennett had been in declining health for a couple years, and the website Gawker wonders if a contributing factor to his death was his lack of health insurance. Within eight years, Bennett went from his creative apex (Wilco's 2001 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot), to not being able to afford health insurance.

Jay Bennett, gone too soon at age 45..

Flu Update

Alternate title: The Daily Kos freaks out center left Democrats. Short answer: This isn't over.

"It begins Memorial Day"

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you a Conspiracy Theory Prediction that came true! Down to the hour! Read the thread. It's four pages long, at the moment, but check it out. After the initial prediction, things don't get good until the fourth post on page two when it becomes apparent as to what the poster was referring..

Official Sources here, here, and here. And, around this time, two earthquakes were recorded in North Korea(5.0 and 5.1), and one offshore near the Ryukyu Islands(4.9). And.. close to the same time, three magnitude 5+ quakes hit Greece(5.0). Bulgaria's capital Sofia(5.2), and Macedonia(5.4). Reference from Focus(Although their magnitude readings have been upgraded to 5.4 for the three events). Oh yeah, NK also successfully tested a short range missile, too.

I think the two or three Korea quakes were "artificial," and the Balkan quakes were real. I don't know if these events are connected, but if they are, what, and where are the missing pieces? I keep thinking the close proximity of all these occurances to be.. strange.
This could be an interesting week..

This site's owners must be overwhelmed with work..

Sad, I guess. I'm ambivalent towards the demise of malls. As an economic indicator, we'll be seeing Many, MANY more of these malls dying, very, very soon. I'm sad for the loss of jobs for the lower and middle class employees in the dead mall's surrounding areas that cripple their earning power and dead-shell remnants that blight their immediate environment. I'm sad for the waste of good resources that could have been useful somewhere else. I'm sorry for the sense of failure that hangs over a community when a local mall dies, a feeling of We didn't do enough or We should have shopped harder, or some other ridiculous notion felt by communities when their Center of Materialism fails.

What I don't feel bad about, what I won't miss, is the inevitable end of this Consume At Any Cost mentality that is eating away at our society like some runaway cancer. I won't miss this nationwide obsession for MORE (whatever MORE is) to the detriment of one's own immediate and long term financial security. I welcome an end to the fatal fallacy that buying more shit will plug the enormous, growing hole in one's heart caused by the baseline fallacy of materialism replacing love. I welcome an end to the smug, corporate arrogance of "If you build it; they will come," no matter how mediocre the concept, no matter how shoddy the construction, no matter how hollow the value.

The death of this smirking, greedy, orientation is actually the most welcome aspect of this, our increasingly dire nationwide situation. The money people, the corporatists, the planning and zoning committees, everyone involved from conceptualization to implementation, will now have to Think Harder about every project they undertake, rather than figuratively throwing shit against a wall to see what sticks. The eternal optimist in me hopes that malls of the future will be more Mixed Use, incorporating the needs of the community more directly into each project (Example: On site libraries and government/public facilities, housing within or nearby, integrated transportation hubs). Maybe some real thought will be put into each project, designing for the needs of the community 50 to 100 years into the future. Maybe some inroads can be made into countering this corrosive Bigger, Faster, Better, More! collective brainwash that chokes our common sense like some rampaging Anaconda snuffing the desire to "save," only allowing the concepts of "want," and "new" to survive.

As the situation is still not critical, a collective adjustment won't happen soon. But I feel that, despite the happy talkers on CNBC, the bottom is not in sight, and quite possibly, that we are on the far, outer ring, and the real downward spiral has not even begun. The future is unseen, more than a tad terrifying, but hopeful, nonetheless, as humanity has the capacity for optimistic, innovative reactions for even the worst of circumstances. That is my hope, as we enter this Zone of Unknown that is our upcoming Future..

David Lynch, Dangermouse, and Sparklehorse collaborate on Massively Awesome album no one will ever hear..

A Dream Project. Tons of amazing guest vocalists collaborating with two musicians at their creative apex. David Lynch(!) is in the mix. What could go wrong? "An ongoing legal dispute with EMI." Lynch's book of photos will be released, but the album of music might not ever be..

And corporations can't figure out why people despise them.

Please. Go. Away..

You people make my head hurt. Did anyone else think they were dooooomed two years ago? But why should I, or anyone else, care? If they weren't "famous," would anyone want to watch or be around a woman so thoroughly unpleasant or a man so thoroughly deflated and defeated?

Imagine waiting on this brood in a restaurant, or having to remodel their kitchen, sell them a car, or simply welcome them to Wal-Mart. Would your efforts be up to her standards? Doubtful. Would she tell you about it? Probably. He never had a chance. When the camera's off, I imagine he drives to remote places and cries..

I'm afraid I can't do that.."

Today's lil' freakouts. And by "lil'," I mean big.

1. Pakistan - Nuclear weapons aren't SuperKeen in the hands of those so-called "responsible" countries that posess them, but when they fall into the hands of less desirable factions, it could get ugly.. Here's a little more hysterical and a little less credible analysis..
2. Flu - Don't get rid of those designer masks just yet..
3. 20 million Beatles fans realize they're minions of Satan..
4. Gliese 581e wants to know if we're happy with our long distance service..
5. "How high's the water, mama? Three feet high, and risin'.."

So you're a little freaked on Obama's choices regarding our economic course..

Another perspective on recent events. While the Economy is in chaos, the public's subjective indicator, The Voice of the Economy (Economists, Heads of Industry/The Plutocracy, Mega-Investors, The Media/Pundits) is a cacophony, too. How does one go about correcting the overwhelming, embedded, evil way of conducting business that is The System? How without a total shit rain of resistance from 1000 different sides from those entities with a HUGE vested interest in the status quo? Pure speculation, this is, or is it?

What are the web bots, why do they keep blowing my mind?

The web bots (background here, process described by site of origin here, biggest Internet proponent here)are predicting a really busy, dense, chaotic, horrifying, and.. inter-dimensional series of events starting, oh, a couple weeks ago. Clif High, who began using the program in 2001, has predicted 9/11, the 2003 Northeast Power outage, 2004 tsunami, Katrina, last May's monster quake in China, the October 7th "tipping point" worldwide economic crisis, and the April 17th date for this years flu epidemic, along with many more events.

Some of the scarier 2009-2010 events predicted (with precursors now) include massive economic collapse, breakdown of the social order(worldwide), the "summer of hell" here in America, an Israeli attack on Iran (October 26th seems to have special significance), a "Global Coastal Event/Phenomenon" (already begun with this spring's storm season and connected to events in Antarctica), and this inter-dimensional doozy of the disappearances of VERY public people along with what's called "The Voice.." Clif's essay explains more..

"Hard Sync Wink
Personal essay by clif high

Where to start? Well, as confusing as it may become, we begin with an attempt to describe the way in which it is manifesting.
I had written, some time back in our ALTA reports, about the [disappearances], and how some of ThePowersThatBe would be walking along, and simply vanish….and not to a ‘good place’. I had described how it would freak out the rest of TPTB seriously, and they will react as though the [disappearances] were a ‘thing’ of the material world such as a kidnapping, or murder. They will gather [security forces] around themselves in large numbers in some cases, and it will matter not. In our work the details of the data sets indicated that these TPTB creatures, and in some instances, their entire cadres of ‘body guards’, would, in an instant, [disappear] to a not nice place. The effects of this upon the world of the [power elite] will be quite interesting to observe. Look for it later in 2009.
Which brings us to the other side of the [disappearance] word sets. This set, within the data, is under the influence of the [duality] meta data layer, and has ‘another side to it’. This, as you may suspect, is referring to the ‘Voice’, as it has been described in the article from the Tasmanian Times. I provided less information on these [personal vanishings] as I did not want to get into arguments with those humans blighted and blinded by religion, especially the rabid, radical christers who would think that I was describing the ‘rapture’. And, as the data sets noted, the [personal vanishings] were just that… a personal manifestation on the part of some individuals.

Soooo….there I was, hardly awake on Thursday morning, just back from the store, shivering with the cold rain still on my shoulders, when George Ure calls up. He is all whipped up by this giant sync wink having to do with his novel (which sounds like a tempting read), and the appearance of the article from Tasmania about the [disappearances], and the several emails that he had received. I had briefly skimmed his site before his call so knew that he had written about this ‘voice’ and disappearing humans, but, to be honest, was more concerned about getting warm and caffeinated than accuracy or depth of reading.

When George called, his monkey mind all whipped up and excited by the giant sync wink from universe, I was in my ‘go away, I have real work to do’ mode and was dismissive of the conclusions that he was drawing from his experience. Not that I discounted the sync wink, it was just that it had, other than getting the timing correct in our ALTA reports about the manifesting of the [disappearance] language, not much personal relevance. And I wanted to finish my coffee.

Now the real curious part is that I just volunteered to George that I had been ‘hearing this chatter’ coming through the other vibrations in my personal universe for some time now, and that it was somewhat annoying. Note again, I had not yet read the accurate description given by the Tasmanian Times article of the phenomena. I then went on to describe the ‘chatter’ to George, and when he asked, had to think back to when I first became aware of this…which was slightly after the March equinox. So, about “2/two months ago, more or less”, I informed George.

But, other than being an irritant, the ‘chatter’, offers little in the way of meaning or understanding. As a point of information, the ‘chatter’ is as though there is a sedate party going on just over the fence, the voices of the many people involved are clearly heard as voices, just that there is no ability to separate it out into words….very much as though a teevee or radio is left on in a close by room, but not quite loud enough. A real annoyance, as I may have mentioned.

Then, to cement our feet into the whole giant sync wink of the thing, in our conversation about the voice phenomena, I ended up using the words ‘vegetarian’, and ‘ken’ (meaning ‘understanding’), and other descriptors which I would later read in the article about the disappearances. Again, multiple layers of winking within this sync wink.

Just to add to the hairs-crawling-up-the-back-of-the- neck feeling to all of this, I noted that immediately before the appearance of the ‘chatter’, I had gone through some very core level changes, and had decided to wind down to stoppage on the ALTA (Web Bots) reports. Hmmm. And, in telling it all to George, I have noted that several of the other people I know on this particular path have also reached a point where, for whatever reason, they had also started ‘winding down’ their public presence. Again, a major level of sync wink?
So, after dismissing George, and getting him off the phone, I went to the link that he had provided to the Tasmanian Times article, and read through about 2/3 (two thirds) of it before spitting coffee out my nose, and calling George back up. There in the article was a creepily accurate description of what I have been hearing, and most striking, a timeline to disappearance that ran 3/three months!

Oh, carp, thinks I, quickly trying to calculate just when the 'chatter' first came into my life. Gulp, another cuppa coffee made due to spilling the first, and then back to the article with the realization that it has been nearly 2/two months since I first became aware of the voices-at-the-party buried in the general hum of universe around me. Ohhhhh probably this is NOT a good sign.

Then, of course, within the article is the common link of being a vegetarian…and yup, I got that too. Been a vegetarian for decades. Damn winks just don’t stop.

So I got the timing correct on the disappearance language, even though I was forecasting it from over a year ago. I did not anticipate being ‘part’ of the phenomena, but what the hell, I had already decided that I needed to ‘take the summer off’ as the readers of the ALTA reports can attest. Curious timing?
Winding up affairs? That remains to be seen.

I have no plans on going anywhere, and to the contrary have had to buckle down to work here as so many relatives here in the PNW are now without jobs, and I do have some capability to assist them in these times of troubles. So I had already begun a serious effort toward our next project (no, not the crop swirlies…), and now the potential (not probability) of an ‘extended vacation’ to ‘universe incognito’ appears.

Well, it does, as I note, remain to be seen. I have no plans to “wink out” a month from now. Those who know me, will certainly testify to my general state of ‘raspiness’, which probably disqualifies me from the remainder of the ‘voice’ experience. So I still will be here a month from now…..
But, if not… I don’t go without my boat, and assurances that someone over there knows how to bake a good pie.

Waiting around, Clif high."

Some trippy shit, don't you think? And this comes from an economics website! The veil on this illusion we call reality is lifting, and it is exhilarating and terrifying all at once. If these predictions are indeed accurate, how many "normal" days do we have left?

Just because Miss California's still in the news doesn't mean the genetically modified flu went away. Just the opposite..

Red State follies..

Sounds crazy, even for Oklahoma.. The coroner said it took two hours to wipe the smile off her face.. Naw.. (I copped that line from "Top Secret") Thanks to AlienEarth for pointing me in the right direction..

Meanwhile, in Scary Economic News..

This is gonna suck. Bad. Here's a bit of the doom.. "He.. believes the failing bank is a London subsidiary for a giant US-based bank. He likened it to a plumbing blockage, with extreme backup consequences. He expects a ripple effect to cause shock waves, or a flood of sewage. We wondered if it could have Commercial Paper consequences.."

The scary part of economic doom is that the concepts are too abstract and complicated for the average person to understand. Therefore, he/she has no idea how grave a situation may or may not be. The average person must then trust the "experts," who aren't really that.. accurate, or caring, when it's not their money (Only occasionally have they been called out on their incompetence, but when it happens, it's spectacular! ).

So, with my limited knowledge base, my gut tells me this news is Grave.. If it is, we'll know real soon..

Serial Killer murders second Montauk Monster; Monster community "Living in fear."

Won't somebody think of the monster-children? Actually, this one washed up onshore. Like the first rodent/dinosaur-one did about a year ago. Wikipedia here.

They both look so sad in their prone positions(link to video, too), like they died from exhaustion trying to escape. So, really, what the hell are they, and where did they come from? Creepy possibility here..

Urban Survival's latests flu mortality rate..

Still not going to Urban Survival? What's wrong with you?

Deaths: 61

1.20% is the magic statistic. Still higher that a regular flu season, but much less than the 2.5% mortality rate of the 1918 Spanish flu. So things are looking up.. for now..

It snowed in Saudi Arabia this week..

Unusual, to say the least, for May. Watts Up With That? has the snow scoop..

Interesting post from UFO Blogger regarding Terence McKenna's Timewave Zero theory. Imagine cramming the entire cycle of history of the United States into the last four years leading up to December 21, 2012. If true, we're going to be very busy, indeed..

I'm sick of the legislative hypocrisy promoted by these closeted Republican politicians! If you were John Q. Closeted Public, you can do whatever you want, but when you legislate behavior that you yourself are engaged in, guess what? You're gonna be called on it.

Sad attempt for "Poor Victimized Republicans.."

But Republican officials - noting that the film's targets are limited mostly to Republican politicians - question whether "Outrage" is merely a veiled partisan effort."When a (movie) like this only highlights Republicans, it causes you to immediately question the motives of the people putting it out," said Jon Fleischman, the conservative vice chairman of the state GOP and publisher of the Flashreport.com, a California Republican Web site."If people have made lifestyle decisions they've kept private, then the makers of this video are showing the utmost contempt for the people who have made the sacrifice of being in public office," he said. "This flies in the face of an American tradition - that is, that people's personal lives are supposed to be just that.

I call bullshit. If there are gay Democratic legislators that vote against gay rights, I'll retract. But the closeted Republicans are the consistent problem here. David Drier and his "roommate" are the worst..

Feeling Unstable? Some Weapons Grade Plutonium will fix what ails ya'..

Double Bluurg. Awesome freak out passage: "..Other experts note that even as Pakistan faces instability, it is producing more plutonium for new weapons, and building more production reactors.
David Albright and Paul Brannan of the Institute for Science and International Security wrote in a recent report documenting the progress of those facilities, “In the current climate, with Pakistan’s leadership under duress from daily acts of violence by insurgent Taliban forces and organized political opposition, the security of any nuclear material produced in these reactors is in question.” The Pakistanis, not surprisingly, dismiss those fears as American and Indian paranoia, intended to dissuade them from nuclear modernization. But the government’s credibility is still colored by the fact that it used equal vehemence to denounce as fabrications the reports that Abdul Qadeer Khan, one of the architects of Pakistan’s race for the nuclear bomb, had sold nuclear technology on the black market.
In the end, those reports turned out to be true."

10 Amazing Microscopic Images From Inside A Body.

Thank you, 1113. Most of these photos (hopefully not all) are happening inside you right now!. As CERN might represent to some (or many!) a scary down side to science, human microscopic research is part of science's promise of "A Better Tomorrow." "A Better Tomorrow" was the cultural mythology that was promised us (the world in general, specifically, though, the United States) of better living through astounding medical advances, space-age mass and personal transit, Utopian thought, and split second impulse satisfaction. "The Jetsons" might be the best representation of that pleasant, naive, delusional post WW2 dream/mentality that we thought would eventually be Our Future.

Where does cellular microscopic research fit in?

1. It re-enforces just how sophisticated and complex each of our bodies are. Every person you meet is a system so complex that our greatest scientific minds still can't fully perceive it holistically! Then factor in every other living organism, everywhere, throughout the world, extending to the world itself. The abstract notion of global cohesive inter-relationships and its overwhelming complexity becomes a bit more intellectually concrete.

2. It furthers our quest to unlock the gigantic (and probably quantum) mystery that is US. When we get closer to a fuller understanding of who, what, and how we are, a gigantic evolutionary jump in our consciousnesses is not far behind.

Maybe I am naive, but I certainly hope this is the path WE choose.

Branson, Missouri triple threat

1. Branson blows. 2. Cheeztastic! 3. Branson Awesome.
Numbers two and three are interchangeable, of course.

I'm not sure, but I think this sucks..

“Exactly how improbable does a cataclysm have to be to warrant proceeding with an experiment?” - Dr. Adrian Kent

How many serious, in-your-face doom scenarios are we going to have to endure? I don't know how much theoretical research has been done in this particular branch of psychics, but I would vote for much, much more before CERN(Large Hadron Collider, or LHC) goes back online. This experiment could be the zero point for humanity's understanding of psychics and the beginning of an amazing new world, or, we could get sucked into a black hole of our own design, ultimately swallowing the entire planet. Now that, my friends, is a serious coin toss.

I'm not sure what freaks me out the most:

These passages from a Scientist involved with the project ("Last September, Dr. Fabiola Giannotti, the lead scientist working on the Atlas facility (one of six collision detectors at LHC), said (with an observed degree of uncertainty in her voice, according to an Italian reporter for Corriere), 'Do not be afraid of [the LHC]. Our super-accelerators are not going to destroy the Earth. The LHC is going to be the place and the moment where and when we will decide about the future [direction] of particle physics.' -and-Dr. Giannotti said in response, 'It is a ridiculous fear because [collisions like those at the LHC] occur spontaneously every second in nature thanks to cosmic rays from space. Such collisions release energy billions of times higher than those we obtain [at the LHC]. And even if we can generate black holes as a theory suggests, they would be microscopic and evaporate in a fraction of a second.'), the response to the last quote (Sound a little like “famous last words”? I hope not!),
or that it's already malfunctioned before.

Flu Updates

I started blogging in earnest only recently in response to the threat of this possible pandemic. What to have on hand, what alternative herbs to take, what to do if you've got it and can't get medical help.. And, while I don't think its threat level has necessarily diminished, the information seems to be highly contradictory.

I'll continue to monitor postings on several sites, and encourage you to do so, too. It's become a little too quiet a little too quickly.

What the hell's a Goro Adachi?

Goro practices Synchronistic Mysticism. I've been reading for five years now, and while I have no idea how he connects the threads, I know that he does.
He only publishes publicly two or three times a year, and this post is from yesterday.

Long and challenging and confusing and amazing, his articles are always among my favorite reads on the 'net. C'mon, take a peek..

Missouri State Senator Justus has same sex ceremony in Iowa: Iowa, Missouri, not destroyed in hellfire and brimstone.

Congratulations Jolie and Shonda! And thank you, District 11(KC), for sending an incredibly intelligent, driven, empathetic, and downright cool individual to represent your interests in Jefferson City. I've known Senator Justus for over 30 years now, and I KNOW you chose wisely!

Onward and upward, ladies!

I guess the North American press couldn't cover two important Mexican stories at once..

We might become confused..

Under cover from the Chupacabra Flu "epidemic," the Mexican Senate passed a vote to legalize drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. Posession of small amounts of these drugs will soon be legal. Peddling small amounts of said drugs will also be legal. That's pretty big news, right?

But wait, conservative President Felipe Calderon has to sign it first. Oh yeah, Calderon proposed the bill! Mexico's lower house has yet to approve the measure, but that looks to be a technicality. Calderon to Drug Cartels: F--U!!

Any bets about the rationale for the legalization arguement here? Economic, or Strategic?

Webbots proclaimed "Awesome," but they knew that already..

I can't say enough good things about George Ure and his kickass Urban Survival site. Not gone yet? Go! This is an extensive read, but well worth it. Take it, George..

"10XCSN Explained
It has been a real privilege to be a small part of the http://www.halfpasthuman.com/ predictive linguistics project over the past 9 years and this week two events have occurred that have shown me - without a doubt - that the future can be personally known, at least to some degree.

The first major 'hit' (e.g. getting a prediction absolutely, undeniably, smack-dab right) goes back to a column I wrote and posted at the http://www.urbansurvival.com/ site on Saturday October 11th, 2008 under the headline "Things we don't like to talk about..." Now, in order to prove to you that I didn't just go and write that page yesterday, and to ensure that everything is on the up-and-up, here's the Google cache of the report from October. Link.
---
Now Grasshopper, I'm going to take you to time monk school: Let me share the little problem, which as a 'time monk lite', I was pondering last October.

Knowing what I did at the time about coming/forward events out a few months, what could I write in what's now the semi-distant past that would show undeniable foreknowledge that the event many months ago, but which without giving away the future (and taking a risk of being party to making it happen would still underscore how really precise the technology can be in the right (no axes to grind) hands.

What we were expecting (October 08) was to see an event to take place in Ohio which would become a kind of a rally-point for the rising confrontation between omnihumanity and PTB / authority.

Much as the Kent State shootings in 1970 became a rallying point for the (then) anti-Vietnam War movement after four students were killed in a confrontation with armed forces of 'authority', we had linguistics that led us to believe something of a similar but different nature would be taking place in the same kind of geographical area.

So I decided to write about this future event back in October '08 by calling it "10XCSN" which I can now reveal referred in part to Crosby Stills, & Nash, the popular rock and rock group that wrote and performed a memorial to the Kent State Shootings titled simply "Ohio". This was a hugely emotional song. The liner notes from the CSN album "Decade" touched on how deeply moved people were by that song as Neil Young wrote:
"It's still hard to believe I had to write this song. It's ironic that I capitalized on the death of these American students. Probably the most important lesson ever learned at an American place of learning. David Crosby cried after this take."
So that - so we're now clear - is what the "CSN" part of the "10XCSN" was about.

What about the "10X" part? Ah. How many students were killed? Four. Ask you what four times 10 ("10X") that number would be? Forty, you say? Bingo.

So finally time unveils the "event" that we've been waiting patiently for these past six-months: "Block party becomes Kent riot: 40 arrests and climbing as police break up mob" reports the Record-Courier's Kasha Legeza-Burton. So that's as close to a perfect fit as we can offer: 10XCSN referred in October of 2008 to the 40 (+) that were to be arrested at Kent State, scene of the 1970 shootings memorialized by CSN and 10-times as many humans involved.

Whether we will see this morph into a musical (or viral video) rallying point against corpgov remains to be seen. But I'd suggest that the odds of getting 10XCSN in October and having the underlying event 'fade to real' in the present is well above statistical 'chance' although you're welcome to make your own informed decision about that.
---
While I personally wish that Cliff would continue the project, there's more --- much more --- that falls under the general subject line "Things we don't like to talk about..." and I totally respect his decision to hang it up for a while.

I take some solace in both Bob Dylan and then Jimmy Hendrix ssinging of "All Along the Watchtower"

There's a hint or two, if you want them, in the Wikipedia entry about "Watchtower" :
Commenting on the songs on his album John Wesley Harding, in an interview published in the folk music magazine Sing Out! in October 1968, Dylan told John Cohen and Happy Traum:
“ "I haven't fulfilled the balladeers's job. A balladeer can sit down and sing three songs for an hour and a half... it can all unfold to you. These melodies on John Wesley Harding lack this traditional sense of time. As with the third verse of "The Wicked Messenger", which opens it up, and then the time schedule takes a jump and soon the song becomes wider... The same thing is true of the song "All Along the Watchtower", which opens up in a slightly different way, in a stranger way, for we have the cycle of events working in a rather reverse order."[5] ”
Christopher Ricks has commented that "All Along the Watchtower" is an example of Dylan's audacity at manipulating chronological time: "at the conclusion of the last verse, it is as if the song bizarrely begins at last, and as if the myth began again."
And maybe it will.

The lyrics of Hendrix's version are personally poignant because I associate it with our 'time monk' mentality - look but don't touch; we're just here to learn to Dance with Universe better:
"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."
The other event that was 'trippy' specifically involved me personally - one of those things that falls out of the 'model-of-the-model' [MoM] (a subset of the big modelspace that is used for referential integrity checks where we sometimes look at our own futures a bit) and something happened exactly on schedule and right down to some unbelievable levels of detail that I won't go into here, but I can assure you, it was a world-shaker. Imagine having 6-months of lead time on how a meeting would go.

It's like someone saying "You'll be on the corner of this street and that at this time on Thursday April 23 and the phone will ring and it will be this person and here's what the conversation will be about...and don't forget to ask about X because that unlocks things hidden from most. " Damned if it didn't happen exactly...

Dangerous stuff knowing the future in advance, another reason why you might want to hold to the mental imagery of "Three riders are departing and the wind's begun to growl...." Fine time to be outta Dodge."
Several Peoplenomics readers wrote in to correct my lyrical quote: "Two riders were approaching..." I was told.

"Nope, you're not getting it...the three riders would be Cliff, Igor, and me..."

Does the technology suggest anything we haven't talked about? Well, having your money in a local bank of high quality is something on my personal list this week.

Oh, and does the world end in 2012? No. At least a few folks with "be on the road with cheerful courage" but whether that means we'll all be driving Saleen 7's to a party with friends, or wandering around in an out-take from Mad Max's world gleaning what can be found in the leftovers of 2012...well, don't want to spoil the adventure for you.

But the life-changer in all of this for me has been a developing appreciation that 'be careful what you wish for' has implications that go deeper than you might ever imagine. Want to change you life? Ask yourself this: "How many minutes a day do I spend consciously embedding my expectations about the future into the form I want it to arrive in?"

You might be pleasantly surprised. Or, then again, we could be wrong."

..kinda like a Raiders/Patriots game..

California Boob-Job vs. La Douche. Who to root for? Who to root against? It's a virtual tie for overall toxicity of character! If pressed, I'd side with Douche, as he's got the right idea (but coupled, sadly, with a way wrong, snotty-ass approach) and a couple of IQ points on her. But only a couple.

My big problem with her is how quickly she ran for Fundie cover after one spat with a Celebrity Gossip. She dates Michael Phelps, for God's sake! How long before the evangelicals wake up to this friendship of convenience? Her work with the Special Olympics is completely forgotten, and she looks like a bigger opportunist than her nemesis. Not an accurate portrayal, and a shame, really..

Chupacabra Flu? Maybe. Maybe not. I think it's still way too early to predict where this is all going, but if H1N1 duds out, this could be at least a partial explanation.

Good thread. Some choice herbal suggestions. A sample:

4/30/2009 1:44 AM Re: The Indians had a cure for the 1908 flu-this one too Quote
All you have to do with dry or fresh herb, is simmerslowly on very low heat in a pot with a lid.Never raise the heat(you will burn the "fruit"), simply wait patiently for the water to come to a boil-immediately reduce heat and keep on a simmer. You should make the water level just above the amount of herb in the pot (just like regular cooking)and if you need to, add water if the water burns off too much.You keep it simmering until your tincture is DARK. This depends on how much water/herb you personally are using.
As soon as it is dark remove the water that is now a tea into another bowl and set aside. Your work is not done yet.
DO NOT THROW THE HERB OUT YET!
It is still viable.Pour more water in the pot and do the process again.Pour the next batch of tea in with the first.
You do this until simmering the herb no longer produces a dark color. BUT NO LESS THAN THREE TIMES. VERYIMPORTANT!(the herb slowly strips down its medicine, some of the most valuable is near the end of the "washings"-3 times or more)
Throw the herb out of the pot.
Pour all three batches(or more) of tea(that you set aside in another bowl)back into the pot.Raise the heat again SLOWLY, with a top on, and simmer and reduce the tea until it is very dark.Steaming off all the extra water concentrates the medicine.
High heat destroys the fruit, which is the medicinal quality of the herb.
Now this is the easiest and most accessable way to make an Alchemical tea for medicinal purposes.

So if this flu turns out to be a dud, at least I'll have a much stronger homeopathic knowledge base. I can live with that!
Hold your horses..

"The WHO said yesterday that there was no reason to raise its five-step alert level to the sixth notch as the outbreak of swine flu appeared to remain steady.
The day before, the organisation had raised the alert level to five, which signals that a pandemic is ``imminent''. Phase six would signal that the world is in a pandemic."

Story straight, much?

It came from Outer Space..

MeatEatOr asks a pretty good question. If he's right, what does that mean? The fourth post down fleshes out a theory, and the post with the header "acko speculates" (bottom of page one) adds plausibility.

Not a conspiracy "favorite" (No cabal responsible/completely random), but still..

From http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/ via www.godlikeproductions.com . That's Flu Trackers, a single issue forum site. I haven't checked this out fully, but it's worth a look.

Re: Cytokine Storm Cure! Quote
This is from the flutrackers forum:
"decreasing cytokine storm vs. strengthening immune system"
Join Date: Feb 2006Location: norCA, USAPosts: 1,317Default Enhancing the immune system vs minimizing cytokine stormI copied this over from the Everything about elderberry thread. It's a reply to Zkurmus question about using a sambucol supplement that also contains echinacia. But as you will see, I get into other possibilities... I hope others will share their family prep plans.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Zkurmus, just a quick reply...
Echinacia is considered an immune system booster. I haven't looked into the research that might support this. My mom always swore by it and drank all sorts of things with echinacia in it on a daily basis. I saw some articles posted by Shannon or LMonty that echinacia may boost some of the factors that the body produces in its over-reaction to H5N1 that is called the "Cytokine Storm". (Cytokines include interleukins, tumor necrosis factor, other immune system messengers that "cascade" too vigorously in response to H5N1 infection...). Maybe I can find some of those references.
The cytokine storm (and ARDS, acute respiratory distress syndrome) which may result from H5N1 infection is thought to be more likely in children and healthy young people with strong immune systems.
* The death rates from H1N1 in the 1918 pandemic supports this hypothesis: 50% of deaths occurred in those 18 to 40 years old, and most died within a day or two.* So do the death rates among the young in Asia from H5N1 today: don't know the exact stats, but 50% of deaths so are in those under 25, I think.
There must also be an exposure factor determining who gets ill ill in the first place: the youthful work force in 1918, and kids who care for chickens in Asia today should be factored in.
Thus, there are suggestions that having a strong immune system may be a risk factor for death from H5N1 in the coming pandemic if you get sick. If that is true, then theargument by some is that to the degree that any herbal remedy, medical treatment or vitamin enhances immune function, it may increase risk of death by cytokine storm if you get the bug.
Key will be avoiding becoming infected with H5N1. Social distancing and being reclusive will be a protection. Having food, basic multi-vitamins, vitamin C and other resources available to be able to remain sequestered will be a protection.You and your family don't want to have contact with other humans who could infect you.
Before the pandemic hits, I'm suggesting to my family that we all have the best functioning immune system possible. Prior to pandemic we're continuing with echinacia if we already take that supplement (I don't, but some family members do.). Some family members who keep bees swear by bee propylis. I don't think it increases the cytokines, but I don't know any research on this.
Other family members swear by reservatrol, which is present in full cluster unfiltered concord grape juice (or wine) where grapes are prone to getting a fungus and reservatrol is created on the grape skin in reaction to the fungus. Reservatrol is also found in almonds, peanuts, full cluster unfiltered, hot extracted mulberries, blackberries. I posted on that on another preps thread.
[link to www.flutrackers.com]
If someone gets sick, we plan to stop the echinacia, but not the propylis, or reservatrol.
Some believe it's helpful to take sambucol before infection and increase the amount if you get infected with H5N1. We're planning to do that. I've made a number of quarts of sambucol tincture from dried elder berries soaked for 10 days in vodka. I didn't sweeten it. It tastes like death warmed over, but I think it helps, given some recent experience with the common flu and pneumonia. I may try making some without alcohol as I am not much of a alcohol consumer. I have also made tea from the dried berries.
If your sambucol supplement contains echinacia perhaps you should discontinue it when the pandemic hits near you.
If the person gets sick, there are other supplements that may reduce cytokine storm (and ARDS). Antihistamine like "Benadryl" or the generic equivalent is another "over the counter drug" we have on hand. It's cheap and available at places like Costco in the US.
Turmeric (95% curcumin) is another anti-cytokine storm herbal remedy. It should be abundant in your part of the world.
Omega 3 fatty acids are said to be beneficial.
Lipitor (10 mg/day) is a prescription drug that may be beneficial in recucing the cytokine storm. It is prescribed for high cholesterol and should be taken under a doc's supervision. The doc checks liver function to make sure you're not one of the rare people who have an adverse reaction.
I have not saved all the scientific research notes I made when sorting my way through various options last fall. I'm willing to see if I can find some of them again on the internet. If so, I will post them under preps. Maybe others who have thought through the "what if's" will contributeas well. We're all in uncharted waters in planning to mitigate the pandemic effects. What each person and family does will have to be based on personal research, what's available where you are, and making your "best guess".
I am not an MD; this is not advice, simply what my family and I are doing. We don't have antivirals, so we're in the same boat as you on that one...
Here's a page of food, materials and supplement preps I made up with some firefighters last fall. Med stuff is at the very bottom under PERSONAL NOTES.
First Hybrid Flu Death
First, an update from a pretty good source about what's 'hot' on the flu front this morning:
"1) A 23 month old in Texas died. Seems to not fit the pattern, but no details released to public yet, so I don’t know if this is an anomaly or something is different than normal about the swine flu. Based on normal flu years, about 5-15% of US deaths are healthy young adults that don’t fit the pattern. This may be the same hard to figure out death pattern, or something may have changed in the way the H1N1 is behaving. We’ll know more as details are released.
2) Patient zero (or very near to zero) was apparently identified. Young boy who was sick in early March. His blood was tested then & they found nothing, since they weren’t looking for swine flu. Retested & apparently positive. His parents did not get sick, nor others in the village; at least sick enough to have seen a doctor & had blood-work done. They live right next to a big pig-plant (locations in Mexico & US). They, of course, say that the swine flu has nothing to do with them & their pigs don’t have influenza. I’m sure the Mexican health agencies will do more than take their word & look into it."
Meantime, maybe someone was actually paying attention yesterday when I bemoaned the lack of precision when it comes to the hybrid flu that's making the rounds. Not only is the World Health Organization calling this outbreak the 'North American Flu' but I see where "U.S. officials want 'swine' out of flu name" as well.
I continue to be perplexed by a couple of points: The first is "Where the treatment protocol?" and the second is "What are the over-the-counter/OTC options?" for the millions of Americans who either don't have healthcare, or figure they would face more risk by going to a hospital than by self medicating and staying at home.
One the question of treatment protocols, it turns out that they really do exist...well...sort of.
For example, a quick search of pandemic flu treatment protocols brings up a US Department of Transportation study "Preparing for Pandemic Influenza" but it's focus is not on the doctor/PA level practitioner trying to respond to a sick patient, so much as it's a guide for 9-1-1 centers
to develop dispatch protocols for Personnel and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
Similarly, the Homeland Security "Best Practices and Model Protocols" document of April 2007 does a fine job of sorting out who should respond how at an agency/sector level but darned if it gets into the diagnostic tree and efficacy studies.
I haven't had time to do an exhaustive search, but after spending a fit of time on the phone with a doc I know, his point that the practitioner-level/treatment recommendations really ought to be more readily available. His view went something like this: "OK, so I have someone show up in my office and they've got a 102 degree temp, they're barfing their guts out, sniffling and hacking...what's the current best course for proper diagnosis and treatment based on the most current cases which CDC and WHO have in this episode?"
To be sure, the WHO has some generalized information on their web site if you scroll to "Treatment and Prophylaxis: Antiviral Agents, but it's not a detailed diagnostic flow chart by any stretch. What this particular doc is looking for is the whole tree, contraindications and a drug-by-drug summary. You know, the kind of thing that would say use this antiviral but only if the patient doesn't have the following conditions, kind of thing, along with a batting average or best SWAG based on these similar modeled responses.
Would you be happy with the flu response plan for Tonga down in the South Pacific? That's easier to come by. But enough of that...on to the next point.
How this flu kills is interesting. Seems that it triggers an over-reaction by the body's immune system in a process called cytokine storming. Here's a contributed article by Spencer Feldman, this is NOT PRESENTED AS MEDICAL ADVICE AND IS FOR DISCUSSION PURPOSES ONLY and remember as you read this, that it was prepared for bird flu not the hybrid which is currently in play. That said, it may offer some perspectives on how the flu operates and let me say this one more time: THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE - FOR THAT SEE YOUR DOCTOR! Got it? :
Suggestions for the Acute Management of a H5N1 Pandemic, by Spencer Feldman
The H5N1 (Asian Avian Flu or "Bird Flu") virus owes its lethality to its ability to instigate pathological immune responses in the host via cytokine storm. This leads to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and massive infiltration of inflammatory cells into the lungs. Thus, any H5N1 protocol must take into consideration, not only the inhibition of the virus, but also the effects of DIC and alveolar flooding.
Given that there are reports of some patients dying within three hours of initial symptoms, any medical response must be swift and aggressive. Traditional models for treatment outside of a hospital setting rely upon antiviral medications. This is insufficient as there are now strains of the H5N1 that are resistant to all major antiviral drugs, and furthermore does nothing to address the issues of DIC and alveolar flooding.
Alternative models concentrate on immune stimulating products. This is a dangerous idea as it is the strength of the immune response that makes the H5N1 so deadly. Increasing immune response may prevent an initial infection, but in an infection that has already taken hold, it will only worsen the outcome.
Preventative Measures: Studies suggest that Vitamin E and Selenium may decrease the infectivity and pathogenicity of the H5N1 Avian Influenza(1).
Additionally, air pollutants have shown to increase the risk of contracting the H5N1 Avian Influenza(2). Raising glutathione, a primary detoxification pathway for petrochemicals may be of benefit. Finally, strengthening capillary walls may be suggested in preparation for a possible hemorrhagic episode.
Acute Management: Current scientific thought holds that the lethality of the H5N1 Avian Influenza may be caused by systemic viral dissemination, cytokine storm and/or alveolar flooding(3). As such, an intelligent protocol for supporting the body would be to take these factors into consideration. The H5N1 Avian Influenza contains the compounds Hemagglutinin and Neuraminidase (also called sialidase). Both of these compounds are required in the infection cycle of certain virus. The drugs Zanamivir and Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) are both Neuraminidase inhibitors.
One study suggests that the common Chinese Herb Astragalus may also be a Neuraminidase inhibitor(4). Since another study(5) suggests that Ca2+ and Mag2+ both speed up the activity of neuraminidase, and that Ca2+ is required for its function, making these elements unavailable via chelation with sodium and potassium citrate may be of use.
Studies also suggest that Lactoferrin(6), sulfated polysaccharides such as Ceramium Rubrum(7) (Red Marine Algae) and Elderberries(8) may be Hemagglutinin inhibitors. Unfortunately, Elderberry also increases cytokines (see above) especially Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha (TNFa)(9) which is specifically associated with the toxicity of the H5N1 Avian Influenza (10). For this reason, ingredients that studies suggest normalize TNFa such as Curcumin and Vitamin E (11),(12) should be considered.
One outcome of a cytokine storm can be disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). DIC may be responsible for the massive hemorrhaging seen with the H5N1 Avian Influenza(13). Thus, in addition to supporting normal cytokine levels, supporting the body in normalizing blood coagulation parameters with nutritional compounds may also be suggested(14),(15),(16). The drugs Amantadine and Rimantadine work by inhibiting the matrix protein(s). Studies indicate that Glutathione and Resveratrol may have an effect on matrix proteins as well(17), (18). Finally, Lactoferrin may support the body in decreasing infiltration into the lungs of inflammatory cells(19).
Emergency Solution While I have already manufactured a product that contains all of the ingredients listed, the FDA does not allow for commercial sale alternative products to be made (other than homeopathics) for the bird flu.
The following ingredients should be available locally and might form the basis of a makeshift H5N1 survival pack.
1- Curry powder as a source of turmeric to suppress TNFa
2- Red wine with the alcohol boiled off as a source of resveratrol
3- Kelp as a hemagglutinin inhibitor
4- Astragalus as a neuraminidase inhibitor (available at any Chinese herb shop)
5- Vitamin E as a blood thinner (available at any health food store) Conclusions
Reports of people dying from the H5N1 Influenza in as little as three hours from the first signs of infection suggest the necessity of carrying on one’s person whatever they consider an adequate defense against this infection.
To recap, In designing such a defense, the key factors to address regarding the H5N1 virus would be:
1- Decreasing the risk of initial infection
2- Decreasing the potential virulence of infection
3- Inhibiting Hemagglutinin
4- Inhibiting Neuraminidase
5- Inhibiting Matrix proteins
6- Binding of viral receptor sites
6- Reduction of calcium and magnesium
7- Decreasing general inflammatory cytokines
8- Decreasing TNF-a in particular
9- Supporting normal platelet activity
10- Decreasing free radical activity in the lungs
11- Minimizing hemorrhage
12- Strengthening blood vessels
13- Protecting against the after effect of hemorrhage
14- Replenishing electrolytes lost to diarrhea
15- Inhibiting secondary infections
Emergency prep list
I culled this from www.godlikeproductions.com. Go there if you can handle conspiracy theory. If not, the information presented is still valid. Guy by the name of Gabriel (I think) originally posted this. Thank you, Gabriel.
I am compiling a list of what YOU need to get in terms of supplies for preparing for a widespread level 6 Pandemic. With the help of the mods, I hope to have this thread updated and available for readers of GLP. This site can be a valuable resource for those who need news aggregated from alternative sources as well as direct preparedness tips that go further than the typical "plastic sheeting and duct tape" nonsense you will get from Federal authorities.
First off, lets start with WHY one would be well advised to prepare for this pandemic. Worst case scenario, this virus is readily transmittable and has a mortality rate equal to or greater than ~2.5%. It appears that the virus is spreading easily between humans, however, it is unclear what the mortality rate is. Currently the death toll in Mexico stands at aprox 150 and the reported cases number 1,600.
According to these numbers, the death rate due to infection in Mexico stands at 9.3%. Now, lets assume for the sake of argument while trying to be conservative as possible, that the number of reported cases is underreported and that we are actually looking at 100% more cases than reported. This would have the effect of lowering the mortality rate to 4.6%. A 4.6% mortality rate is nearly 50 times more deadly than seasonal influenza. This would represent our worst case scenario and the basis for our preparations
Influenza can be easily transmittable and it is caused by a virus that spreads in the air in aerosol form. Being in a room in which a person sneezed or coughed puts you at risk of contracting the disease. It is also transmitted by contact with infected people. Handshaking, hugging, kissing, or even touching something that had been touched by an infected person puts you at risk of contracting the disease. Doorknobs, handles, keyboards - anything you touch can potentially put you at risk of infection. This is why it is important to wash your hands regularly to remove any virus from your hands before they are able to infect you. Common routes of infection include your lungs, the membranes lining your nose and also your eyes.
The best things you can do to help PREVENT infection is:
Wash your hands regularly to remove any virus that comes in contact with the surface of your skin. Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth unless you have washed your hands first. Disinfect your work area and items you interact with regularly. ie: keyboard, phone, mouse, desk, etc. Do not make contact with people whom you do not know for certain are not infected. Limit exposure to areas and places where other infected people may be. Telecommute/work from home if possible, and if you work in an office, work with your office door closed.
Consider wearing a N95 face mask, for added protection. Also, wear wrap around glasses/safety glasses in public to prevent infected aerosol from entering your eyes. For added protection considering wearing latex gloves while out in public and then discard of them outside of your home.
Important Tips: Alcohol and hydrogen peroxide does NOT easily disinfect and kill viruses. Do not rely on hand sanitizers to replace washing your hands. Even Lysol requires direct contact with viruses for a period of 5 Minutes in order to claim a 99.9 percent kill ratio. Washing your hands with plenty of soap and water is the BEST way to cleanse you hands and body from any virus contaminant that you make contact with.
Having a healthy immune system if important to not falling ill but it is not the best way to prevent getting sick. The best way is to limit exposure. Eat well, stay healthy, take vitamins, but do not rely strictly on vitamins and supplements to prevent you from getting sick.
Now, on to the preparedness and supply portion. We need to prepare to first off limit exposure and secondly, to be prepared for mass pandemonium in case things go from bad to worse. Make a list of all the things/supplies you need on a weekly or bi-weekly, or monthly basis and figure out a way to purchase them all at once and at one location. You want to limit exposure, that means limiting the number of people you come in contact with. If you go out to buy groceries or pick up something at the store 3 times a week, you have 3 times the exposure as you would if you went only once a week.
Try to buy in bulk and only go to a store once every 2 weeks or LESS if possible. Don't go to the grocery store, Costco, Target, AND Wallmart all to get your supplies. Pick ONE place and try to go early in the morning or late in the evening when fewer people are at the store. Don't shop in an area that you know if suffering heavily from infection and If you can, buy supplies in a different city or neighborhood. If you see people coughing or sneezing - LEAVE the area. Do not confront them, just leave, it's not worth it.
List of supplies and things you need:
3 Gallons of bleach that can be used for disinfecting items and also for making disinfectant sprays. Can also be used to disinfect drinking water.
1 liter bottle of Betadine disinfectant
Several pairs of safety glasses
3 boxes of latex gloves3 boxes of N95 face masks
3 gallons of antibacterial soap
5 Large cans of Original Lysol
10 boxes of bar soap like Ivory or Dial
2 large cases of paper towels
1 pump sprayer like what you would find in a garden center for spraying fertilizer or insecticide. Can be used to spray bleach disinfectant mix.
3 5 Gallon buckets of grains like rice or beans. This is important in case grocery stores shut down or resupplying food becomes difficult or poses a high risk of infection.
20 1 gallon containers of distilled or mineral water for drinking.
5 large cases of bottled drinking water3 rolls of plastic sheeting. This would be useful in making a decontamination room or helping to seal off an room that an infected person is in -Might not be room in hospitals.
3 rolls of Duct Tape - Always useful stuff
200+ cans of assorted high calorie food items.
2 large boxes of strike anywhere matches as well an assortment of candles.
2 10 gallon gas containers filled with fuel. Buy gas containers from Home Depot
Well supplied First aid kit that includesIf possible fill several prescriptions that you may need in advance for pre-existing conditions. You don't want to have to go to the pharmacy once infection has spread.
If possible fill a prescription of broad spectrum antibiotics. Secondary bacterial infections are a great risk factor if suffering from Influenza.
If possible fill a prescription of antiviral drugs like Tamiflu or Relenza.
If possible fill a prescription for a fast acting bronchodilator like Albuterol. This will help in keeping your airways open if suffering from influenza.
Stock up on bottles of vitamins such as Vitamin C, D, E, and B complex. Include Zinc supplements and a good multivitamin. Start taking the multivitamin daily.
BUY A SHORTWAVE RADIO. In case you lose power you want to have a means to gather info from various sources.
Buy plenty of batteries for your electrical devices.
Consider purchasing a gas generator. Don't run it in your house - will cause carbon monoxide poisoning!
Buy a gas or liquid fuel lantern.
Keep your vehicle with never less than 3/4 of a tank of gas.
Store several quarts of oil in your trunk in case you need some.
Keep your vehicle in good operating condition
Make sure you have a spare tire and means to change it.
Keep 300-500 dollars worth of cash stashed in a safe place - more if possible. Also consider keeping several gold coins with you in case you cash starts loosing value/inflation price gouging.
If things get really bad where you live, and the ability to resupply breaks down or becomes difficult or dangerous, don't wait for FEMA! Pack everything up in your car including the 20 gallons of gas and leave the area. Either go into the country and camp or drive to a location that is not suffering as heavily with infected. Consider staying with other family members. You need to stay alert and be ready to leave an area BEFORE you get locked down in some kind of a quarantine. If you are stuck in a quarantine, then hunker down, live on your supplies. Look for opportunities to resupply. The amount of food and supplies listed above should be enough for 2 people to get by for 60 - 90 days depending on rationing.
Don't be fatalistic about all of this. Get your supplies. You can make it through and being prepared will be an advantage.
