Lost, in its final season, is (so far) incredibly satisfying on a variety of levels. It still provokes as many questions as it seems to answer, but the overall narrative does seem to be building towards a final, cataclysmic Ending, all the while, weaving new insights into established characters while continuing to introduce Supernatural(as an umbrella term) devices to drive this complex juggernaut of storytelling into an area heretofore unknown within the medium of television. I am so pleased, and continually amazed that this incredible metaphysical juggling act becomes more accomplished, more cohesive, and more difficult as the series winds down. There will be no easy answers on the road to the ultimate conclusion this series has begun..I am a Johnny-Come-Lately to the program, losing interest during season one and not returning until the end of season four. When the series concludes, I cannot wait to watch the entire story from the beginning. I now will have the advantage of knowing the creator's clarity of intent, to see how tightly they constructed those episodes that, as of now, are lost to my full understanding of the series' genius. What resonates with me is not the dialogue, not the action (for the most part), and not the characters, as much as the Concepts the series presents. Some highlights include:*Energy Vortexes that effect the "normal functions" of reality (Plane crashes, anyone?)*The entire show as "ritual," a shamanistic journey exposing one to "The Big Picture" through revelations of smaller, interconnected secrets leading to an evolution of Perspective.*An "accurate" portrayal of Time Travel within the realm of Quantum Mechanics. From Popular Mechanics: "The time travel on Lost isn't necessarily good science, but it basically adheres to theoretical physics: All of the wormholes and temporal mayhem can be traced back to the "exotic particles" buried deep in the island. Bursts of electromagnetism can be used to detect and access the island. And even casual exposure to the exotic particles can be as serious as other brushes with radiation, causing unborn babies to die. It might be pseudoscience, but time travel on Lost feels like the product of quantifiable, observable natural phenomena."*Time as a multi directional, multidimensional experience. Season Six revolves around the concept of sideways time, that, not only did the plane not crash, but Time had been altered many years before, and that the characters' lives still had interaction with each other, but in a different context than the experience of the island. *The concept of Edgar Cayce's story of Group Karma, that (to paraphrase)everyone you've ever met in this life you have known before, in some other form. The characters this season don't have the bond of the island, but are inevitably attracted to each other through other situations in order to resolve past actions between them.*The concept of a spiritual, but not religious, chance at Redemption, or the equal possibility of spiraling into Oblivion. This season, this concept has been mirrored in both time frames (Ben and Sayid are the best examples..).*Souls as characters, or souls changing "disguise." The Man in Black was both Shepard's father and now John Locke, after both had died. The concept of an Evil Tempting Force is ancient, yet removed of religious implications, feels "modern," or at least, "timeless."*Multiple possibilities of "Pre-destination." There are six candidates for the "stewardship" of the island. They have all been led.. guided.. to the island. One's destiny is set; unless it is not.Where is all this headed? Can most of these concepts find a suitable resolution? Can J.J. Abrams balance the abstractions with a conrete climax to satisfy 50 percent of his audience? I hope so. This series, this explosion of right brain activity masquerading as "entertainment," is so close to perfection, it is already a success. The final question regarding Lost, I guess, is this: How much further can it, will it go, will it take us all, before it's all over?
From Space.com via AboveTopSecret.. The ATS link is the best, as the poster has taken the time to post each image on the main post, as opposed to having to click the "next" link, as formatted in the Space.com article. Of course, no one knows how close these descriptions really are, but the conjecture is fascinating, yeah?
From VigilantCitizen:"Astana is the first capital being built in the 21st century and it perfectly represents where the world is headed. It is truly one man’s vision: Nursultan Nazarbayev, the president of Kazakhstan (yes Borat’s country, I know). Backed by billions of petrodollars, the city is being built from scratch in a remote and deserted area of the Asian steppes. The result is astonishing: a futuristic occult capital, embracing the New World Order while celebrating the most ancient religion known to man: Sun Worship. The city is still a huge construction site, but the buildings that are already completed already sum up Nazarbayev’s occult vision."Whether or not you believe the rationale for the article, it is odd that Astana is at once amazingly fabulous and obviously remote. This video(totally awesome slide show/tour set to some really major Eurasian hiphop) has certain wide shots from the edge of the city where, just past the buildings, there is nothing. Nothing. Wikipedia also takes note of the city's absence of.. suburbs, nearby towns, more than 10 people per square kilometer(That is, of course, with the exception of the city itself..).."To some Kazakhs, the move remains controversial. Critics cite the city's isolated location in the center of the Kazakh steppe and the forbidding climate in winter.[7] Financially, some resent the massive expenditure of public funds to build the new government complexes, as well as the continuing cost of airfare and hotel expenses for the many government workers who still live in Almaty.[8]"The location, the massive construction, the futuristic, geometric fabulous-ness of it all, seems so.. over the top, that, just by its being, gives credence to Vigilant Citizen's claim. True or not, this under-construction Ultra-Land of ancient religion, mathematics, and esoteric symbolism, is a sight to behold. If its existence is actually benign, check out the cityscape for an idea of what 21st Century cities will look like and how they will function.. And if not, well, I guess we'll all be seeing some major worldwide ceremonies broadcast from there, live, via satellite.
Ever wonder what goes on on the moon when the man isn't busy making cheese? According to David Icke (pronounced "Ike."), it's "a gigantic ‘spacecraft’ (probably a hollowed-out 'planetoid') – which is home to the extraterrestrial group that has been manipulating humanity for aeons. He describes what he calls the ‘Moon Matrix’, a fake reality broadcast from the Moon which is decoded by the human body/mind in much the same way as portrayed in the Matrix movie trilogy. The Moon Matrix has ‘hacked’ into the human ‘body-computer’ system, he says, and it is feeding us a manipulated sense of self and the world 24/7."Not one to shy away from controversy, David Icke has both passionate supporters and detractors, and no doubt, this latest theory will continue to polarize opinion. I have had more than several passing thoughts of "reality as matrix" before, and after reading the blurb for his book and this strange, overlapping post that showed up about the same time, there is something at the outermost boundaries of my Reason that resonates with this concept. The world is changing, but more importantly, people's perception of the world is changing faster than anytime in my lifetime. I have no idea where we are heading: Green Utopia, Brave New World, New World Order, Idiocracy, 2012: Apocalypse, or, possibly a blend of this Moon Matrix as cover for McKenna's self transforming machine elves, or Castaneda's dreams as key to the Universe. Like I said, I'm not sure where we're headed, but events seem to be accelerating, and the Veil of the Future will be lifted soon, and we'll all know which of these theories was most remotely accurate, and who the Prophets actually were..
From Xymphora: "Hillary just finished the most disastrous (Me: He has two separate links here) Latin American tour by an American official since Nixon in 1958 (coupled with the disaster of her trip to Pakistan, Hil makes Condi look like the world's greatest diplomat). No matter how awful Obama is, just remember how much worse it could have been with Hil:" (Emphasis mine)"The Honduras crisis has been managed to a successful conclusion."
"I voted "No" because there are no legal obligations for Icelandic taxpayers to compensate the British and the Dutch for debts incurred by private companies beyond their worth. At least the losses caused by the flaws in the international banking regulatory system should be shared equally per head of the three populations. We want fairness, not blackmail." Sölvi Eysteinsson, Reykjavik"I voted "No" to express my opinion that we should not cover the debts. I feel that citizens should not pay for the financial mistakes of companies." Óskar Freyr Hinriksson, ReykjavikNo need for a recount, either. The vote was 98% to 2%.
Mark Linkous took his own life Saturday evening. For years, apparently, he straddled the line between creation and self destruction, reflecting that struggle in his musical tone, but not necessarily in his lyrics. Linkous made the perfect mood music for empty, darkened rooms, and his talents will be missed.Link to Sparklehorse "Please Don't Take My Sunshine Away."
Great article from Dark Roasted Blend on how crustal plates are where they are now, and where they're headed.. Be sure to click the links detailing projections for the next seven billion years or so..
"As authorities nationwide warn motorists of the dangers of driving while texting, Florida Keys law enforcement officers add a new caution: Don't try to shave your privates, either.Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at Mile Marker 21 on Cudjoe Key was caused by a 37-year-old woman driver who was shaving her bikini area while her ex-husband took the wheel from the passenger seat."This is a scary road and a lot of bad wrecks are caused by dumb stuff like this," Dunick said. "It is unbelievable. I'm really starting to believe this stuff only happens in the Keys."I'm sure that locals weren't too impressed, as they've heard worse; probably this week.
"The Dancing Plague (or Dance Epidemic) of 1518 was a case of dancing mania that occurred in Strasbourg, France (then part of the Holy Roman Empire) in July 1518. Numerous people took to dancing for days without rest, and over the period of about one month, most of the people died from heart attack, stroke, or exhaustion."Wikipedia's best guess is Mass Psychogenic Illness, or mass hysteria brought on by extreme psychological distress. Historian John Waller is the main proponent of this theory, and has written a book on what he thinks was the cause.. Bottom line: Stress collectively freaked people out, and they danced themselves to death. But I'm sure there were those who tried to blame this epidemic on the music and "loose morals" of the time..
This makes me vibrate with freaky excitement!
"Rich people always want the best for everybody." - Carl Carlson, The Simpsons.Another great article from Washington's Blog defining not only Conspiracy Theory, but the psychology of those defending the Powerful against those theories: (Red is my emphasis)"But - while people might admit that corporate executives and low-level government officials might have engaged in conspiracies - they may be strongly opposed to considering that the wealthiest or most powerful might possibly have done so.Indeed, those who most loudly attempt to ridicule and discredit conspiracy theories tend to focus on defending against criticism involving the powerful. This may be partly due to psychology: it is scary for people to admit that those who are supposed to be their "leaders" protecting them may in fact be human beings with complicated motives who may not always have their best interests in mind."and"Pay attention, and you'll notice that criticism of "conspiracy theories" is usually aimed at attempting to protect the state and key government players. The power of the state is seldom used to crush conspiracy theories regarding people who are not powerful . . . at least to the extent that they are not important to the government."I think that soon, we will reach some kind of critical mass, where, due to the amount of corruption that The Public is now becoming aware of, and due to the lame explanations given by Those In Power, a shift will have to occur where those who don't believe in the Conspiracies of the Powerful will be deemed as "Crazy."
Nuclear explosions will not just destroy what's in the dimension The massive amount of energy released affects much more than our tiny specter of vibrations. We're seeing located huge explosions ripping through the veil of another dimension. Why so many now? Is there a war going on in the other dimension? Inter-Dimensional Apocalypse, coming this fall, on SyFy.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."and3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
Spare the Rod? Former Missouri House Speaker Accused of Beating and Raping Woman . . . Releases on $2,500 Bond.Stout Family Values: Georgia Voters Replace Politician In Sex Scandal With Another Family Values Candidate Who Allegedly Had Affair With Mother-in-Law.The first story is fairly amazing for a couple of reasons. The "Family Values" bullshit that Jetton still peddles is one thing, so that's typical Republican politics, but the bond amount ($2,500 dollars)? Kinda low.. Turley writes, "Remarkably, bond was set at only $2,500. Jetton was required to leave office due to time limits but continues to work as as a powerful political consultant in Jefferson City. I entirely agree with the bond itself but the amount seems wildly out of proportion to the gravity of the crime. I do not like the massive bonds often sought in criminal cases, but this is a bond that would be considered small for an auto theft case."The other aspect is the deafening silence of the statewide media concerning charges against Jetton. Fired Up Missouri has been consistently covering the story, but most Missouri news sources frame the incident as "rough sex," and some national outlets are calling it "rape." TPM covers it down the middle with this creepy ass quote to end their story: " (It is important to note that Jetton has not yet been charged with rape or sexual assault.)The part about a rape date drug isn't confirmed yet. But the woman in question seems to think that's what happened. And that's what she suggests in the police report. And Jetton has now been charged with felony assault. When Jetton left the woman's home the next morning he told her: "You should have said 'green balloons'."
Not this; that's for sure. And Evangelicals can't figure out why people think they're judgemental..
He's been predicting "The Big One" as earthquake, in the time frame of the Olympic games for more than several weeks now. And it happened! Several weeks is actually very conservative, as he's been highlighting different multi contextual messages pointing to a major quake for many months. Goro Adachi is the real deal, friends, and his style might be confusing to the uninitiated, but go back and do some reading: Goro connects the dots and predicts the events before they happen. His articles are archived. Go back and read them all. And believe..
Man who broke the Bank of England, George Soros, 'at centre of hedge funds plot to cash in on fall of the euro'. Hopefully his demise will illuminate the fact that, when you have more money than God, it doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or Republican. If you pull shit like this, you're just EVIL.
Two big ass EQ's in the last 24 hours: 7.0 in Japan, and 8.8 in off the coast of Chile. Not a typo: 8.8.. It's 2:14 a.m. Central Standard Time, and CNN, et al.. haven't uttered a peep that I've heard, although the forum I culled this from says otherwise.. If you happen to be reading this while on the west coast, two things: Welcome!, and Thanks for reading!, and check out this Tsunami map, just in case.. Here's the latest Tsunami warning.. The West Coast looks like it will stay safe, at the moment. And here's a full list of EQ's over the last seven days. The number is about the same, but the magnitudes are increasing..
"More intelligent people are significantly more likely to exhibit social values and religious and political preferences that are novel to the human species in evolutionary history. Specifically, liberalism and atheism, and for men (but not women), preference for sexual exclusivity correlate with higher intelligence, a new study finds."No, I'm not an atheist, but Agnostic beliefs are perceived the same way in today's society. I always find it funny that, after a conversation about my belief in, for example, astrology, some acquaintances will say "So, you don't believe in God?" Quite the contrary! Astrology strengthens the belief I have in a Sophisticated Entity beyond our collective comprehension, as does fractal geometry, the human circulatory system, and synchronicity "coincidence."It's nice to have an alternate perspective to the puzzled looks I receive sometimes after voicing my opinions: My thoughts are not necessarily crazy, just Novel!
I LOVE that Larry Flynt has picked up on this story, originally posted here on BradBlog.. Friedman is On Fire at the moment, picking apart not only the Sibel Edmonds story, implicating both sides of the political spectrum of Treason, but the Bullshit Acorn story, AND the New York Times bullshit decision not to retract their stories, now proven to be false! The Edmonds story has been out there since right after 9/11, and that it's been suppressed and under-reported this long should give you the proper indication as to its importance. Read, read, pass, please.. Do not bogart this information!
U.S. Refuses To Endorse British Sovereignty In Falklands Oil Dispute (!!!!)Executive director Alan Mendoza said: 'The Obama administration's decision to ignore the democratic rights of the Falkland islanders is disgraceful. 'It can only be motivated by moral weakness in the White House or a misplaced desire to punish Britain for the Binyam Mohamed case and the disclosure of U.S. intelligence documents.' 'The decision, while feeble, is unsurprising. For the past year, Mr Obama has followed a foreign policy path that punishes allies and democracies while allowing rogue authoritarian nations like Iran and North Korea to pursue their objectives.'How did I know this guy was a Neocon? He strummed all the right notes.. This columnist Toad did too.. two clues... 1. "We share a belief in liberal democracy, in freedom, and it is largely thanks to our willingness to commit ourselves to the defence of those ideals that the world has not been engulfed by fascism, communism or Islamofascism." (Clue: Whenever you see Islamofacism in a sentence, the speaker is either super-conservative or crazily neocon) and: 2. "Who does he think will replace us as America’s steadfast ally when she finds herself embroiled in a territorial dispute of her own — possibly with the very same motley crew of Latin American rabble rousers? Spain? Italy? France? Good luck with that, Mr President." Once again, just look for the codewords to decipher the political orientation..Maybe, just maybe, President Obama wants no part of the growing, massive, anti-imperialist movement sweeping South and Central America (and Iran!), and can see the writing on the wall: South America will unite against England's last gasp at Empire, it will end badly, and America should stay the fuck out of it, or side with our geographic neighbors as a future foothold to the oil forthcoming. Maybe that's it..
And this is one of the four thousand reasons I love him! From Gawker.
Great mix of easy to understand Astrology for the masses and a bit of a "heads up" for the next couple of weeks from Aquarius Papers. When reading, don't worry as much about trying to understand the configurations and planetary degrees, just focus on Wilkinson's interpretation. Nutshell: The next couple of weeks(into April) are Very Important. Think about your behavior at every turn, and always Choose Wisely.
"..Johnny Depp is to appear on TV's "48 Hours Mystery" to protest the controversial murder convictions of the West Memphis Three. ..convicted of beating to death three 8-year-old boys in a suspected satanic ritual in 1994 in Arkansas. Baldwin and Misskelley were sentenced to life in prison and Echols to death. All were teens when they were tried and convicted."Since their convictions, there has been a sizable minority of people calling this a "miscarriage of justice," and who have consistently fought to overturn the verdicts. And then there's this douche bag, who seems to be obsessed with these three men and their judicial guilt, so much so that he's devoted his entire snotty website to them and the failure of their supporters to get another trial. Kind of an electronic "Ha Ha! You're still in jail" continuous insult, complete with updates.. Huh. I wonder what his issue is with these three. It just doesn't seem normal to continuously gloat over status quo convictions the way he does. Too bad, because I really like the header on his site. Very noir..
This thread from AboveTopSecret is part book review, part psychopath warning signs. Scary, as they're all around you..
Could be a HUGE technological breakthrough..
England and (rightful owner) Argentina jockey for position in the soon-to-occur Falkland Islands oil war.. Although, if Argentina wins, I guess it could be called the Isla Malvinas war.. It seems Venezuela has already chosen sides, and Latin America seems to be headed towards general diplomatic cohesion, so this conflict probably won't be as quick and easy as it was 28 years ago. No matter.. this is just one of the opening salvos in the coming wars based on oil and water..
The 5 Most Widely Believed WWII Facts (That Are Bullshit) - From Cracked.com. Every country is guilty of revising their history, and America is no different. Such an uproar several years ago over Japanese revisionist history, and yet, with a little research, it's easy to prove our historians and history guilty of the same omittances and weighted, selective emphasis. And we, as a society are just as ignorant and gullible as anyone else. And our situation may be worse, as our hyper inflated self perception is not only dangerous to the rest of the world, it is unrealistic and ultimately, dangerous to the future of our nation. Not only do we view ourselves as Goliath, but so does the rest of the world. And yet, we forget the end of that story..The myth of America as Superpower started with WWII, and has been accepted, without question, by our populace, and a great portion of the world. Maybe it's time for a re-think.
Man Appears Free of HIV After Stem Cell Transplant. The transplant which involves intentionally destroying "a patient's immune system, leaving the patient vulnerable to infection, and then reintroduce a donor's stem cells (which are from either bone marrow or blood) in an effort to establish a new, healthy immune system." The patient was being treated for Leukemia, and had a rare form of HIV along with the cancer."Before undergoing the transplant, the patient was also found to be infected with low levels of a type of HIV known as X4, which does not use the CCR5 receptor to infect cells. So it would seem that this virus would still be able to grow and damage immune cells in his body. However, following the transplant, signs of leukemia and HIV were absent." "There is no really conclusive explanation why we didn't observe any rebound of HIV," Hutter said. "This finding is very surprising."So, almost thirty years into the conventional research of the "AIDS virus" and thirteen years into work on embryonic stem cells, it seems that scientists keep stumbling upon findings they had not anticipated. And that's great, but there might be more to be learned from following the unconventional paths that aren't AMA approved..
Before posting in depth regarding the whole Austin incident. Maybe in a week or so, the facts will begin to emerge with a bit more certainty, but at the moment, there are too many questions and possibilities to process and synthesize to have focus.
I'm curious, though, about several aspects of this story: Will there be copycats? Are there supposed to be copycats? Will there be any credibility to the preliminary stories about those who called/foretold/knew this attack was coming weeks in advance(a number of these types of stories have popped up already, including on Alex Jones)? What else is in the Echelon Building, other than the IRS? Here's one organization.. The Left and the Right are already pointing fingers at each other. More information on Stack will come out that will tip this (imaginary) balance, but where on the political spectrum will it fall("Well, on the plus side, he hates taxes. On the negative side, he's a filthy Communist!)? Now that a white guy has decided to "martyr" himself for our tax and spend sins, will the right wing be as hip to the concept of "racial profiling" now that they may be the race profiled? I'm wondering if the ACLU will have some new, unexpected supporters?
First, it's a 6.7 in the Russia-China-North Korea(!) region..Then the EQ is revised UPWARD! This never happens.Centered here, or 70 miles southwest of Vladivostok (Home of the Russian Pacific Fleet), and look how close it is to China and NK!And now, a new revision of magnitude.. And location.. But not by much..Now, initial readings are usually revised, but almost always downward, the quake was unusually deep (349.5 miles--the quake in Haiti was only 7 miles deep), and the location was changed. And it happened in the Russian/China/North Korea region. Huh. Three anomalous occurrences, all in a highly charged location. Again, huh..
Amazing album. A tad too hypercritical (but well written) review from Coke Machine Glow.
Aspartame has been renamed and is now being marketed as a natural sweetener. Too bad we have a neutered Food and Drug Administration unable to rein these lying corporate vampires in.. But hey, the average American is smart enough to figure this out for them self, right? Short version: When you see AminoSweet; run the other way!
Nevada Tea Party Bolts the GOP and Glenn Beck. What will hopefully become more apparent is the very real division between the real Tea Party (Libertarians who've been grassroots organizing since 2007), and the faux Tea Party (Corporate sponsored and Republican re-integrated since January 20th, 2009) in the months leading up til midterm elections. The whole premise was limited government and fiscal responsibility, not this insane racist bullshit dressed up as "patriotism." Will the fiscally responsible adults that follow Ron Paul make the break away from the Beckbots? The only way the Tea Party will ever be taken seriously is if it concentrates solely on financial issues deeply and immediately relevant to all of us, not accusations of socialism(or fascism, or communism - no they're not the same, hence different names for each), fake birth certificates, or skin color.
"The images were evaluated by three experienced astro photographer: Carsten A. Arnholm, Øivind Tangen and Arne Danielsen. The jury was given the task of picking out three main winners, plus seven others who were to receive honorable mentions." From AboveTopSecret.
Lead singer of one of the greatest "Two hit wonder bands"ever died today. If you've only recently awoken from a 32 year long coma, here are the videos for "My Sharona" and "Good Girls Don't." If you were too young to be aware of The Knack in '79, you don't really have any frame of reference as to how Cool they were, and how massive their surrounding phenomena was. Before MP3's, before CD's(yeah, Youngbloods, there was a time before CD's), before MTV, before musical format fragmentation, Top 40 music was King, and if the radio was on in 1979, chances were good that the song coming from the speakers was "My Sharona."Those relentless drums, that hypnotic bass line, the snotty, vaguely dangerous, I'm-gonna-fuck-you-girl-and-ain't nothin's-gonna-stop-me delivery by Doug Fieger.. Edgy enough to appeal to the Rockers, poppy enough for the masses (including wannabe-hipster parents), embracing New Wave/Power Pop energy at just that right time in musical history.. How could this song not be a monster hit? At the beginning of the 80's, The Knack looked like they would be the one of the biggest bands of the 80's. They drew comparisons to the Beatles(really for the way they looked, not their music), and the hype was huge, but so was the backlash (I forgot about "Nuke The Knack.").
When their second, horrible album was released, it still sold two million copies, but with the exception of one minor hit (the awful "Baby Talks Dirty"), the band was done, their humiliating and indifferent decline as rapid as their explosive impact arrival had been two years before.Doug Fieger was The Knack. He never achieved the success of "My Sharona" ever again, but the song did experience a resurgence in popularity through the movie "Reality Bites." And while The Knack's hits will never be confused with High Art, "My Sharona" still strums that timeless chord in a lot of people, not only conjuring up memories from their child or young adulthood, but, because there were no trendy synthesizers or dated gimmicks involved, the music stands apart from a set time, and just falls wherever the listener sets it. It's naughty, it's hyper, it's a great song to dance to in a crowd or in a frenzy all by yourself. It is Intangible, but damn it, "My Sharona" is still a great fuckin' song. And although, Doug Fieger did not give us much more than this one great song, he gave me and many, many people an anthem we will never forget.
The earthquake, about 3 miles deep, was about 4 miles west-northwest from Virgil, Ill., and about 48 miles west-northwest of Chicago, the USGS said.
Scientists create "elastic water." With "huh!" picture..
Great post (from December) on Washington's Blog. Long read, but incredibly thorough and persuasive. Print it out for your loony conservative friends, family, and acquaintances!
"When an officer approached the man, he noticed he was shirtless and wearing women's pants with a hole in the crotch exposing his genitals. The man also was wearing his underwear around his neck" From AZCentral.com via Fark!
From the Ottawa Sun, via Xymphora..
It looks like the Orange Revolution is dead, at least that's what the exit polls say, and the way the candidates are behaving. Ukrainians became disillusioned with the Pro-Western/American movement when changes within the government was not forthcoming. How about that? New faces; same corruption. Or maybe Ukrainians got hip to the Neo-Con supported Yushchenko's bullshit and wanted something new.. (Note the last link was from December of 2004, back when the Mainstream Media world wide were still fawning over the "upstart" Yushchenko.) Hopefully, Yanukovych(the apparent winner) will do a better job leading the country. If that should happen to fail, he could alway poison himself like his predescessor did..
What do CEO's and Police Chiefs have in common? A whole bunch of both have been resigning lately. I don't know if they're connected, but both of these threads (from GLP) seem to think they are..
Huh. Interesting theory. I'm not sure this changes my mind(After all, she said he was going to kill her, and she ends up dead. Occam's Razor in action..), but this is a plausible Alternate Theory(Another less plausible, but AWESOME one here). Note the date of this link's post. April of 2008, and no one picked up on this story or documentary, even as a curiosity. I wonder why? I'm not saying that a blackout on this theory strengthens its credibility, but with the insane, anything-O.J. "news" the public has been subjected to over the last almost 16(!!) years, it gives me pause that this narrative has never been pursued. Again; why?
Inital reports of 6.6, downgraded to 6.4. The quake happened around Midnight, CST(06:10 UTC). The trend here is, that for the first week of February, there have been four 6.0 magnitude earthquakes or larger, and one each day the last three days. There have been fifteen earthquakes magnitude 5.0 to 5.9. Most of these quakes were within the "Ring of Fire," which is prepetually active, and the only aspect of note to those quakes is the escalated intensity of 6.0 quakes. The two areas outside the "Ring" to monitor is Yellowstone, which experienced a pretty intense "Earthquake swarm" last week, and this one, near Cumbre Vieja. And Cumbre Vieja is one area that, hopefully, will remain still for a loooonng time, lest this happens..
Great article from Galactic Friends. Sometimes these types of articles don't resonate with everyone, yet very strongly for others. This one really helped me. I hope it can help you, too.
This story's been popping up around the net since Christmas, and this thread is a fairly good introduction to events so far. I'm not sure how Doom-tastic this is(or isn't), but I thought you should know..
This has been bothering me, too. I want to like Obama, but not only is there very little difference in his actual governance compared to Bush, militarily he's doubling the amount of troops (plus contractors!) in Afghanistan. Some hippie peacenik, eh? Who's in charge of the economy? Club Federal Reserve and Goldman Sachs. Further expansion of the Military Industrial Complex? Check. The Canning (first linked article) quote from Chris Hedges is fitting: "President Obama does one thing and brand Obama gets you to believe another. This is the essence of successful advertising. You buy or do what the advertiser wants because of how they make you feel." Obama the Brand I really like: The President and his policies? Not so much. What bothers me about this turn of political events is the perception of what's happening versus reality. The right wing noisemakers hammer on Obama for his "Socialist" leanings, when in actuality, he supports most of the same programs and same corporations they do. You'd think they'd be happy about his closet Republicanism, but that would be off script, wouldn't it? At least Bush and his gang of thugs were honest about their intentions. They didn't mind telling the rest of the country(and the world) to fuck off on a regular basis while taking what they wanted for themselves, their friends, and their cronies. Obama pays lip service to the coalition that brought him to power, yet continues to act just like Bush. The outcome? Fox and the Right wing loonies will continue to howl(while getting what they want policy-wise, while the country continues its swing to the right--shrewd!!), Democrats and progressives will continue to be frustrated(and probably won't turn out for the mid term elections), abandon the party, and suffer a massive defeat in November, and still, nothing gets fixed. The Republicans win, the Teabaggers will be energized, the American corporate power structure will gain incredible strength(already has--thank you SCOTUS), and the rest of us remain screwed, having backed the wrong candidate from a field of wrong candidates. Except Kucinich, of course!
Strong, but not major. The worry? Only one quake, and so far, no aftershocks. Is this a Fore shock? I hope not..
Volcanic emissions from this mountain for the first time in the known history? I'm sure the people are a little anxious..
I know I'm not alone in thinking this, and I've seen this addressed before, but Xymphora sums it as well as anyone.. How many days since 2001 have I thought, "Am I the only one seeing this? Why aren't there outraged mobs permanently protesting almost everything? Turns out, most everybody's too fucked up to care, and those that aren't are experiencing the "second hand smoke" effect of "pharma water." And, I'm sure that if they could, wildlife would tell us to Knock It Off, as it's fucking with them, too. So while I understand the whole "Teabag" movement as having some legitimate concerns (but still not seeing the Whole Big Picture that those they support now Created The Problem then), I doubt they'll be able (under current circumstances) to focus, organize, and field unified opposition to what they perceive dangerous for this exact same reason. At the end of the day, they won't jeopardize their material comforts, and they won't jeopardize the surety of their legal high in trade for the political and societal Unknown serious protest might bring. And they too, are scratching their heads, wondering if anyone else is paying attention to what they're seeing..
From Aquarius Papers. What I like about Wilkinson's astrology is the various astrological combinations happening at the moment are laid out both technically (for those interested) and plainly, for those who just want the "jist." These energies, though, are societal, affecting everyone, not the Sun Sign crap you get in the newspaper. His work is involved, intuitive, and amazingly well written. Example from his latest entry: "This is a crucial turning point in choices that will shape our destiny over the next five months. Though we're enduring 'traffic jams,' ultimately this is making our life a work of art through the emotional intensity we're dealing with.".."While there will be 'forced adjustments,' many of these will help us master discouragement, get what we need, and find a new sense of permanence or a new dedication to some collective ideal or standards. This is a time when we can demonstrate our ability to express our form of 'higher power,' as well as add to our lives through renewed commitments."
For simultaneously exposing an potential new drug abuse problem, and magnifying said problem by about a million.. Did you gasp involuntarily the first time you saw the promos for "'Intervention's' Special Report - Huffing?" I could visualize the eyes of little waste-oids around the country lighting up when the phrase "A dollar a can" was spoken. The major misconception is that what is being huffed is "Air," when it is actually freon. One time is all that mistake needs to kill you. I know, I know, Huffing is now a problem, but exposing it should be balanced against the awareness that national television brings. How do we, as a free society, provide knowledge and treatment for drug abuse problems like this one without overly glamorizing the high or the accessibility? This isn't weed, it isn't alcohol, it isn't even cocaine or LSD. It's freon, and it's deadly and it's cheap and it's oh-so in-style right now. Don't kid yourself--it's a problem that's about to become a Major Problem.
Wow! If I weren't gay, I'd swear I'm in love.. Equal parts Laurie Anderson, Salvador Dali, Luis Bunuel and Lady Ga-Ga, Karin Dreijer Andersson of Fever Ray isn't afraid of making an artistic statement(or freaking out the audience at an awards show), be it performance, visual, or musically. One half of the group Knife (with her brother Olof), Sweden(and the rest of Europe) has been hip to her groove for several years now, and with the release of her new CD, America has a chance to catch up with the rest of the world. Here's your chance to check her out. Videos here for "If I Had A Heart," and "When I Grow Up." Her persona is creepy and intriguing, beautiful and discomfiting. I want to know more..
I meant to comment on Vince's Slap Chop (Remix) a while back.. Awesome. Vince's relentless stream of conscious blathering over miserable Freestyle "music" circa 1992, complete with vocal ticks and loops for added effect. I really hope that this isn't the start of a really horrible advertising trend, but I fear Pandora's box is now open. What's next? The Sonic guys dancing in their car to some Electro-Clash burger-inspired tune? Looped heavy breathing and moaning from the Wendy's Chicken Nugget guys over Donna Summers "Love Your Nuggets, Baby"? Some Progressive Trance version of the old-people Jitterbug phone? It's all too much. More originality, please, and less (Remix) anything..
This one probably thinks divorce is a sin, so "anything" she does to prevent it is OK.. Wow, is this really 2010? Bad Grandma! Bad! Bad!
Afghanistan, or Iraq. So why didn't Fox cover the disaster more? Related story here. Some other story much been more important than 250 to 500 thousand people losing their lives.. Or maybe it's because a lot of those up-to-5,500 Americans killed in Haiti don't.. "look like us.."
Everybody's jumping on the bandwagon, even Jim Cramer! "Secret Banking Cabal Emerges From AIG Shadows," on Bloomberg, no less! The conspiracy buffs are laying down odds..The far out conspiracy buffs are starting to count the bodies.. Here too.. And the BigBoys are getting nervous.. Related here..Settle in, make some popcorn, and enjoy the show! Let Geithner's sweaty forehead be your pressure gauge. Hopefully, our world won't devolve into a global nuclear conflict because a bunch of rich fucks want ALL the zeros and ones..
I'm sure it's just a hoax, or they were all painting lens flare, or swamp gas. Or maybe they were all ancient weather balloons.. Thanks to whoever put this together, as the evidence is a lot more compelling presented in this fashion..
But I feel bad for them anyway.. This is how certain forms of "Christianity" fuck people up. He could never just live his life, and she could never admit the implications, as their entire lives would have to come under self-scrutiny. The initial hyporicsy angle was awesome, but their continued avoidance of the core issue is really sad. Reprogramming doesn't work, and another "situation" (Like this one) will occur.. And their cycle will repeat..
