14 μSv/h from the yellow substance on the roof in Kashiwa Chiba

Awesome.  Wait, no:  Scary!  Fukushima Diary.  Excerpts:

Japanese person measured highly contaminated substance on the roof of her house. The house is located in Kashiwa city Chiba, where is known to be a hotspot. (cf. 192.5 Bq/Kg of cesium from citron in Kashiwa city Chiba)

On 8/9/2012, she blogged like this below,

Around the end of July, I had the professional cleaners wash the roof of our house.

The roof was covered with something like this yellow moss. It was 0.7 μSv/h on its surface.

I took 20g of it by a kitchen knife. Radiation meter indicated it was red zone, 1.2 μSv/h.

I haven’t measured 1.2μSv/h from merely 20g of sample even around here known to be hotspot.

It was totally washed off after cleaning, radiation level was decreased a little bit, 0.4 μSv/h on the surface, but the yellow substance was still with mud in the rain gutter.

I took 3.6 kg of it with the perfect protective clothing (tyvek, gas mask, goggles, plastic gloves).

I packed the clothing soon after taking off the sample, had shower to clean eyes, ears, nostrils carefully.

This is very dangerous, please don’t do it. I can’t take a responsibility if something happened to you.

The radiation level was 14 μSv/h. I haven’t measured higher than 10 μSv/h before. It makes sense why the radiation level is high on the second floor.

We were living with such a thing on our roof..
When I stepped on the roof, I saw the roofs of other houses, most of them were covered with the same yellow substance. Probably the radiation level is high as well.
As reference, in March. 2011, yellow power remained on the street or rain gutters after rain and they measured quite high level of radiation as well. (cf. 2.16 μSv/h from yellow powder)

It is not known what the yellow powder was.

The connection between the yellow powder and this yellow substance is not known either.

Looks like I was right the first time:  Awesome!

Something MAJOR Has Changed Regarding Fukushima Reactor 4.

[LIVE] Tepco is removing the upper part of reactor4  Fukushima Diary seems caught off guard.  He's got a live feed, if you're interested.. Demolition, or urgent deconstruction of the upper part of the Reactor building began without an announcement.  This is important.  Somethings happening.

After a year and a half of watching the severely understaffed workers try to stabilize three Reactors from criticality and clear debris, very little other has been done to stabilize the Reactor 4 building, until just a few weeks ago.  You'd think 1551 fuel assemblies packed in a damaged Spent Fuel Pool 90 feet in the air that is a potential World-Ender would be a priority, but it has not.  Again, until now.

So today TEPCO decides to bust ass on a project that was just a week ago moved up to this fall from the end of 2013, and was moved up today to..  Well, today.  Ominous.

The wind is blowing directly into Tokyo, by the way..

And there's this..

Experts warn of nuclear fire at Fukushima  Audio post from ABC News.  Released earlier today, before deconstruction.

Holy shit!  What the fuck is going on at Fukushima?  Godlike Productions.  The first page of this thread overstates the doom(for the moment), but the thread itself has some good sources.  Like this one.

One note:  During this thread, the appearance of demolition/construction men on the upper levels of 4 are called out as evidence that this whole thing is a hoax(As the radioactive threat is not real, and this all has been a cover up for Something Else..).  Not quite.  Reactors 1,2, and 3 had meltdowns, and 4 was damaged in an explosion, but the Reactor itself was shut down.  The primary danger of Reactor 4 has always been the Spent Fuel Pool, not overwhelming radiation like the first three.

Any accident involving Reactor 4's Spent Fuel Pool could be catastrophic.  I wish the men dismantling this potentially world ending time bomb nimble-ness, efficiency, and the utmost of safety!  No pressure, fellas:  The fate of the world's on your shoulders; that's all..

It's Cooked And We're Boned? No. It's Boned And We're Cooked!

New photos show what remains of No. 4 reactor building’s eastern wall  The top photo shows how much progress TEPCO's cleanup has made.  Cleaner?  Yes.  Sturdy?  For now..

The fact Spent Fuel Pool/Reactor 4 remains standing is the only thing standing between us and global catastrophe.  Earthquakes happen almost daily.  There's enough material here to contaminate..  Everything, eventually.  And there's a good chance a quake will come along sooner rather than later, thereby causing civilization to effectively end.

I, for one, are doing things I will miss when they become unavailable.  Went to a movie tonight.  I haven't been in a theater in two years.  Small crowd, no one talked..  It was really nice!

I will be, in the very near future, doing more items on my Fukushima Bucket List.  Small, accessible activities I love.  Up next, Thai or Indian, and frozen custard.  Jogging outdoors.  A day of photography.  Asking ______ out.  This really is the time, friends.  There might not be any more.   Don't say no one ever told you..

Uh-Oh: Former Japanese Industry Minister Admits Fukushima's Beyond Bad

All quotes from Banri Kaieda, Japan's Industry Minister during and after the Fukushima event.  Presented here these two stories from ENews regarding his recent testimony. Japan’s Ex-Industry Minister: Neutron radiation is degenerating reactors — Admits he was playing a role when saying nuclear plants were safe, and Former Top Official at Hearing: Told that all 6 Fukushima reactors would ‘explode’ if workers left plant — Entire eastern Japan might be lost.  Chilling.

[...]

In June, [Banri Kaieda, the industry minister during the early stages of the Fukushima nuclear accident,] declared that nuclear power plants were safe and said he would approve the restarts of nuclear power plants, with the exception of the Hamaoka nuclear plant in Shizuoka Prefecture.

But [yesterday May 17, 2012] he told the Diet investigation panel that he did not believe all plants were problem-free, partly because reactors degenerate due to neutron radiation.

Still, he defended his decision to allow operations to resume at nuclear plants, saying he had a “role to play as industry minister.”
[...]
Kaieda said on May 17 that [Tepco Chairman Tsunehisa] Shimizu told him on the phone that TEPCO would evacuate from the Fukushima No. 1 plant to the Fukushima No. 2 plant. [...]
Kaieda asked industry ministry officials what would happen if all TEPCO employees deserted the plant. Kaieda said he was told: “It would be disastrous because not only the No. 1 to No. 4 reactors but also the No. 5 and No. 6 reactors would explode.”

Kaieda then discussed the issue with other Cabinet ministers who were at the prime minister’s office. He said they reached the conclusion: “A (total) withdrawal would lead to a disaster, in which the entire eastern Japan might be lost. We have to ask workers at the plant to hang in there although we feel sorry for them.”
[...]
There.  He admitted he lied, and said TEPCO feels sorry for the workers.  Don't you feel better now?
